Overview

Crystal-Shot Longrifle

Game iconCrystal-Shot Longrifle is a two-handed firearm appearance added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion. The model is built around a large crystal that charges the barrel with energy: when fired, the rifle flares with a bluish light, and sparks run along its body. It is one of the most recognizable ranged weapon appearances of that era — later, some artifact guns adopted a similar aesthetic.

The item is classified as a "cosmetic effect" with item level 1: it has no real stats and exists purely for its looks. When used, the appearance is permanently added to your warband's transmogrification collection, after which the rifle can be applied to any suitable gun.

This appearance suits hunters who carry a gun, as well as any other classes that equip ranged weapons for the sake of looks.

Source

The appearance is a reward for the meta-achievement Challenge Warlord: Gold. To unlock it, you need to complete all Warlords of Draenor dungeons in Challenge Mode with a gold rating. Once the achievement is earned, the weapon appearances become available for purchase from the Challenge Mode vendors.

  • For the Alliance, the weapons are sold by Challenger Savina in Stormshield.
  • For the Horde, the same weapons are sold by Challenger Sunforge in Warspear.
  • Each individual appearance cost 1,000 gold when purchased separately.
  • You can also buy the entire set of appearances at once — the item Game iconArsenal: Draenor Challenger's Armaments unlocks all of the achievement's rewards in a single action.

An important detail: the Warlords of Draenor Challenge Mode is no longer active, so the "Challenge Warlord: Gold" achievement cannot currently be obtained. The appearance remains with those who managed to meet the requirement back in the day; it is unavailable to new players until Blizzard brings this content back or offers it another way.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It harmonizes with plate and mail sets in cold blue tones thanks to the crystal's glow.
  • It fits "magitech" themed looks and Draenor orc engineering.
  • It stands out against a hunter's dark leather armor — the crystal becomes the only bright accent.
  • It pairs well with other weapon appearances from the same Challenge Mode set if you are assembling a themed ensemble.

Tips

1

The appearance is tied to the warband collection, so it is immediately available to all characters on the account as soon as it is unlocked.

2

If you managed to earn the achievement but did not purchase the weapons, the appearances are still waiting for you at the vendors in Stormshield and Warspear.

3

When purchasing through achievement_challengemode_goldArsenal: Draenor Challenger's Armaments, you instantly receive all of the achievement's appearances, including this rifle — which is more cost-effective than buying each appearance separately.

4

The appearance can only be applied to guns, so keep at least one firearm in your inventory or bank for fitting.

5

Before hunting for this appearance, check the latest news: from time to time Blizzard brings back Challenge Mode rewards, and then the achievement can be completed again.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
