Overview

Хрустальный пик Карабора

Game iconCrystal Spire of Karabor is a one-handed mace added to World of Warcraft in The Burning Crusade expansion alongside the Black Temple raid. It is a healing weapon with Intellect and Versatility stats, designed for priests, shamans, druids, and paladin healers of that era.

Visually, the mace stands out thanks to its large head made of glowing blue crystal mounted on an elegant haft. The crystal shimmers with a cold radiance, referencing the Temple of Karabor — a draenei sanctuary that the orcs desecrated and turned into the Black Temple. Its silhouette makes it one of the most recognizable "healer" weapons of The Burning Crusade era and a constant fixture in healing sets.

Source

The mace drops in the Black Temple raid, located in the Shadowmoon Valley zone. It is a raid from The Burning Crusade expansion.

  • The source is the raid's final boss, Illidan Stormrage.
  • The drop chance is around 19.76%, meaning roughly every fifth Illidan kill awards this mace.
  • The item becomes soulbound on pickup, so it cannot be passed to another character.
  • There is no limit on the number of attempts: Illidan can be killed once a week on each character.

The path to the boss: the raid entrance is in Shadowmoon Valley, and Illidan himself waits at the top of the temple at coordinates /way #7 52.7 70.4 — a linear chain of previous bosses leads to him, and you will have to clear them in a single run, since there are no proper skips in the Black Temple.

Who It Suits Visually

  • The crystal's blue glow fits perfectly into the looks of priests and shaman healers in light and turquoise color schemes.
  • The mace harmonizes with draenei and "temple" sets thanks to its lore tie to the sanctuary of Karabor.
  • The cold radiance of the head contrasts with dark leather and mail, making it a bright accent in somber looks.
  • It suits the healing T6 sets of The Burning Crusade era, obtained in the same raid.
  • The silhouette is compact, so the mace does not overload the look and pairs well with a shield or tome.

Tips

1

In the current Midnight expansion, the Black Temple can be soloed without much trouble at the maximum level of 90 — all bosses up to Illidan go down quickly.

2

Illidan has a phased fight with a transformation into a demon and the summoning of fire walls, but at an inflated level these mechanics pose no threat to a solo player.

3

A chance of about 20% means it will take several runs on average; set up farming across multiple characters to get more attempts per week.

4

In a single run, Illidan also drops other sought-after transmogs and items, so the trip is almost never empty.

5

It is most convenient to farm on classes with high mobility and self-healing — for example, a rogue or a demon hunter, to clear the raid quickly.

6

The mace counts as a healing weapon, but that does not matter for transmogrification — its appearance can be applied to any suitable one-handed mace.

7

Memorize the route: the raid is linear, and the optimal run goes straight to the top of the temple without unnecessary detours.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
