Cudgel of Furious Justice — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Cudgel of Furious Justice is an epic one-handed mace from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a massive head with glowing blue facets, finished in the cold silver-and-azure palette of the Silver Vanguard. The model directly echoes the aesthetic of the blade Quel'Delar: the same sharp-angled crystalline shapes and glow, so the mace pairs well with other Icecrown-era gear.
The item exists in exactly one appearance and is not a random drop — it is granted as a fixed reward at the end of the story chain about the return of Quel'Delar. Because of this, the appearance is available to anyone who sees the chain through to the end, with no dependence on luck at the final stage.
Source
The mace is awarded at the end of the quest chain about the return of Quel'Delar. The path begins with a random item — the Battered Hilt, which drops from any enemy in the heroic versions of the three Frozen Halls dungeons: the Forge of Souls, the Pit of Saron, and the Halls of Reflection. The drop chance is low, so the hilt is often sold and bought through the auction house.
The further steps:
- Once you have the hilt, start the quest "The Battered Hilt" and take it to Caladis Brightspear in the Sunreaver's Sanctuary section of Quel'Delar's Rest, south of the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown.
- Complete the blade restoration chain: you will need to revisit the Pit of Saron to reforge the sword at the forge, and then cleanse it of corruption in a final trial.
- Finally, hand in the restored Quel'Delar — for the Alliance this is the quest "A Victory For The Silver Covenant" given by Justicar Mariel Trueheart at the Argent Tournament Grounds.
- At the last stage, the game lets you choose one item suited to your class and role. The Cudgel of Furious Justice is the one-handed mace option.
The chain can be completed solo at current level: the Frozen Halls dungeons and all combat stages have long since posed no threat. The only bottleneck is the Battered Hilt itself, with its low drop chance.
Visual fit
- Suits sets in the silver-blue palette of the Icecrown era, especially gear with Silver Vanguard motifs.
- Harmonizes with plate sets in cold tones, where you want a glowing blue accent piece in hand.
- Stands out in contrast on the dark armor of a Death Knight, adding a bright icy highlight to a grim look.
- Fitting in "light against the Scourge" Paladin and Warrior concepts thanks to the lore of Quel'Delar itself.
Tips
1
Most of the time goes into farming the Battered Hilt — plan regular runs through the heroic Frozen Halls or watch the hilt's price on the auction house.
2
The hilt drops from any dungeon enemy, not only bosses, so it makes sense to clear all mob packs rather than running straight to the end.
3
The chain is bound to the character: the appearance has to be earned again on each hero — there is no account-wide model unlock through the quest.
4
Decide in advance which weapon type you need: after turning in the quest the choice is final, and you cannot redo it within a single playthrough.
5
If you are collecting Icecrown-era transmog in parallel, run the chain on a character that can use a blunt weapon to close out the mace at the same time.
6
For farming the hilt, any class with good dungeon clear speed will do — what matters here is not survivability but the pace of running the three heroics.
