Dawnblade — Transmog Set Guide

Dawnblade is a one-handed dagger of rare quality, added to World of Warcraft with The Burning Crusade expansion (patch 2.0.3). It is a compact short blade with a clean silhouette: a smooth blade without ornate decoration, a tidy hilt, and a restrained color scheme. The item icon is the classic "short blade" from the early elven weapon sets.

The dagger belongs to the gear of the Ghostlands zone and is thematically tied to the blood elves' struggle against the Scourge. For the modern player it is first and foremost a collection item for appearances: an item level of 80 and basic stats make it useless in combat, but its calm model fits neatly into light, "morning" looks.

The blade suits specializations that use daggers — chiefly rogues, as well as druids and shamans as a melee weapon for transmogrification. For the appearance to unlock in the collection, the item needs to be obtained at least once by any character on the account.

The Dawnblade cannot be looted from a mob — it is a reward for completing the quest The Traitor's Destruction in the Ghostlands zone.

• The quest is given by Magister Kaendris in Sunsail Anchorage — a blood elf settlement in the northern part of the Ghostlands.
• The objective is to kill Dar'Khan Drathir in Deatholme, the Scourge stronghold in the south of the zone, and bring his head to Magister Kaendris.
• Originally, "The Traitor's Destruction" was marked as a group quest: in the era of The Burning Crusade, Dar'Khan Drathir was a boss for a party of several level-20 players.
• On a character at the current maximum level, the quest is completed solo without difficulty — Dar'Khan Drathir dies in mere seconds, no separate group is needed.
• The reward is given once per character: when turning in the quest only one item from the list is chosen, so the remaining options will have to be skipped or taken on another character.

The easiest way to reach the zone is for blood elves and other Horde characters: the Ghostlands border the Eversong Woods, from which a direct road leads in. Alliance players have a harder time getting there — the zone is historically Horde, so it is most convenient to unlock the appearance on a Horde character.

The quest is part of the Sunsail Anchorage questline, but there are no reputation or level requirements to obtain it. Upon completion the player also receives significant reputation with Tranquillien.
