Overview

Dazar'alor Windreaver is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 8.1 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is an armored pterrordax soaring over the battlefields of Dazar'alor. The mount is a reward for the meta-achievement Glory of the Dazar'alor Raider, which requires completing nine special achievements in the Battle of Dazar'alor raid.

The Dazar'alor Windreaver is a pterrordax clad in green-and-bronze armor, set apart from ordinary pterrordax by its unique gear with no tusks on the head armor. The mount is available to both factions and is shared account-wide.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is awarded automatically upon completing the meta-achievement. There is no element of chance — complete all nine achievements and claim your reward
  • Unique model — the Dazar'alor Windreaver features an exclusive color scheme found on no other pterrordax in the game
  • Ground and flying — the mount adapts to your riding skill and zone, working both on the ground and in the air
  • Engaging gameplay — obtaining the mount requires mastering the unusual mechanics of each boss, which keeps the process entertaining even on repeat runs
  • Doable solo or in a small group — at current character level most achievements can be done with a group of two or three players, and some solo

How to Obtain

To obtain the mount you must complete the meta-achievement Glory of the Dazar'alor Raider, which includes nine achievements in the Battle of Dazar'alor raid. The achievements can be completed on Normal difficulty or higher.

  1. Gather a group of two to five players (some achievements require specific classes or professions)
  2. Head into the Battle of Dazar'alor raid, located in Dazar'alor on Zandalar
  3. Set the difficulty to Normal or higher
  4. Complete the achievements in any order — they persist between runs
  5. Once all nine achievements are complete, the Dazar'alor Windreaver mount will be sent to you via in-game mail

Achievement List

Below are all nine achievements required to complete the meta-achievement. They are listed in the order the raid bosses are encountered.

1. Can I Get a Hek Hek Hek Yeah? — Champion of the Light

Achievement: Can I Get a Hek Hek Hek Yeah?

Objective: Defeat Champion of the Light after stealing three shiny things from each type of enemy — Knights, Disciples, and the Champion herself.

How to complete:

  • Before the fight begins, all raid members must receive Jani's blessing by interacting with the pile of refuse near the boss
  • Players are turned into saurid with an extra button for stealing coins
  • Steal three coins from each type of enemy and return to the pile of refuse to deposit your loot
  • After stealing all nine coins, kill the boss

2. Barrel of Monkeys — Grong

Achievement: Barrel of Monkeys

Objective: Defeat Grong after destroying six heavy barrels with his attack.

How to complete:

  • Before the fight begins, find six interactive heavy barrels in the combat area
  • Place all six barrels in the boss's path
  • Pull Grong and wait for his Reverberating Smash (for the Horde) or Mortal Strike (for the Alliance) ability to shatter all the barrels
  • The boss gains +20% damage per destroyed barrel, so be ready for the increased damage

3. Hidden Dragon — Jadefire Masters

Achievement: Hidden Dragon

Objective: Help a baby cloud serpent hatch from its egg during the Jadefire Masters fight.

How to complete:

  • Find the interactive jade serpent egg in the combat area
  • Assign one player to pick up the egg and carry it throughout the fight
  • The egg carrier cannot use abilities — a druid in Travel Form or a shaman in Ghost Wolf form is recommended
  • The egg is destroyed by the Phoenix Strike and Living Bomb abilities — the carrier must avoid the fire
  • In the second phase of the fight, when the monk transforms into a serpent, his Dragon's Breath will cause the egg to hatch

4. Praise the Sunflower — Opulence

Achievement: Praise the Sunflower

Objective: Defeat Opulence by using the /praise emote on a Singing Sunflower while under the effect of Blinding Aura.

How to complete:

  • One player must pick up the Topaz of Blinding Sunlight and build up 100 stacks of Incandescence, which requires staying away from other players for about 100 seconds
  • After reaching 100 stacks, approach the group — everyone will gain the Blinding Aura buff
  • Summon the Singing Sunflower battle pet and use the /praise emote
  • This achievement can be done solo if you have the required pet

5. Walk the Dinosaur — Conclave of the Chosen

Achievement: Walk the Dinosaur

Objective: Defeat the Conclave of the Chosen without killing the first Raptors of the Predator summoned by Gonk.

How to complete:

  • At the start of the fight, Gonk will summon Raptors of the Predator
  • Mark one raptor that must be kept alive until the end of the fight
  • Every 20 seconds the raptors fixate on a random player — kite them away from the raid
  • Death Knights with Death Grip help control the raptors' positioning
  • Kill the bosses while keeping the raptor alive

6. We Got Spirit, How About You? — King Rastakhan

Achievement: We Got Spirit, How About You?

Objective: Defeat King Rastakhan while keeping all the spirits alive — the Spirit of Retribution, the Spirit of Wrath, and the Spirit of Slaughter.

How to complete:

  • Assign a third tank to keep the spirits away from the main raid
  • The spirits appear during the transition phases — do not deal damage to them
  • Dodge the spirits' green attacks while the main group kills the boss normally
  • Kill Rastakhan while keeping all three spirits alive

7. I Got Next! — High Tinker Mekkatorque

Achievement: I Got Next!

Objective: Defeat High Tinker Mekkatorque after defeating the Blingtron MK2.

How to complete:

  • This requires a player with the Engineering profession and a Blingtron 4000, 5000, or 7000 item
  • Two players must summon their Blingtrons — they will start a duel, and on contact with the boss the Blingtron MK2 will appear
  • Interrupt the Golden Chain Lightning ability or spread out
  • Melee fighters should run away during Cluster of Bling
  • Kill the Blingtron MK2, then finish the boss fight

8. De Lurker Be'loa — Stormwall Blockade

Achievement: De Lurker Be'loa

Objective: Summon De Lurker Be'loa before defeating the Stormwall Blockade.

How to complete:

  • Assign one player to fish at the dock, reeling in the line
  • The reeling process takes about two minutes — the player must dodge waves and sea surges
  • Use crowd control on the adds: Warlock Fear, Hunter traps, or Rogue Blind every 20 seconds
  • The rest of the raid fights normally
  • You only need to summon Be'loa — killing her is not required
  • This is considered one of the hardest achievements in the set

9. Snow Fun Allowed — Lady Jaina Proudmoore

Achievement: Snow Fun Allowed

Objective: Defeat Lady Jaina Proudmoore by melting a Frosty Snowman.

How to complete:

  • During the transition phase, three players must walk through the snow drifts to collect snowflakes
  • Stand near the barrel and build a snowman from the collected snowflakes
  • Wait for the Broadside ability and make sure it hits the barrel next to the snowman
  • The barrel's explosion will melt the Frosty Snowman
  • After that, finish the Jaina fight normally

Completion Tips

  • Current level makes it easier — at max character level the bosses of the Battle of Dazar'alor pose no serious threat. The main challenge lies in executing the achievement mechanics, not in the fight itself
  • A group of two or three — most achievements require at least two players. "I Got Next!" needs an engineer with a Blingtron, and "De Lurker Be'loa" is easier with a helper
  • Achievements persist — you do not need to complete all nine achievements in a single run. Clear them gradually at your own pace
  • Boss order — the order of the first three bosses differs for the Horde and the Alliance, but this does not affect achievement completion
  • Don't forget to switch difficulty — achievements only count on Normal difficulty or higher. Make sure the raid is not set to Raid Finder mode
  • Prepare a pet — for the "Praise the Sunflower" achievement you will need the Singing Sunflower battle pet. Get it in advance by completing the quest chain at Sunflower Hill in Westfall
  • Find an engineer — for "I Got Next!" you absolutely need a character with the Engineering profession and a Blingtron schematic. If you don't have an engineer, invite a player with the right profession to your group
  • Raid entrance — the Battle of Dazar'alor is located in Dazar'alor on Zandalar. The entrance is in the Port of Zandalar. For the Alliance it is easier to get there via the portal in Boralus
