Overview

Убийственный удар

Game icon"Deathblow" is a rare-quality two-handed sword with a wide, straight blade and a stern crossguard. The model belongs to the classic gray steel blades with no bright coloring or magical effects: the emphasis is on bulk and raw combat functionality rather than decoration. This is the kind of appearance collected for the look of a veteran warrior, not a dandy mage.

The item has existed since the original game and remains relevant for transmog: its recognizable wide silhouette reads well behind the character's back. The blade carries a combat effect — on hit it can trigger Game iconFatal Wound, but for the look what matters is the model, not the stats.

The appearance suits all classes that wield two-handed swords: Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights.

Source

"Deathblow" drops in the Sunken Temple dungeon, located in the center of the lake in the Swamp of Sorrows zone.

  • The sword drops from the dungeon's inhabitants, and one notable source is the Shade of Hakkar.
  • This is a zone-drop item: besides the main source, it can drop from a range of mobs in the dungeon, so the most reliable approach is simply to clear the whole instance.
  • The drop chance is low, so it may take several runs.
  • The item is bind-on-equip, so to unlock the appearance you need to equip it yourself.

The dungeon corresponds to roughly levels 50–55, but at Midnight max level it can be soloed in a matter of minutes, so farming the appearance poses no difficulty.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It fits "veteran"-style plate sets — steel armor without bright magic or gilding.
  • It harmonizes with gray-steel and dark sets thanks to its neutral metallic blade.
  • It looks great in early-tint Death Knight looks thanks to the sword's stern geometry.
  • It contrasts with bright glowing sets and artifact appearances — against them the sword looks deliberately restrained.

Tips

1

Farm the appearance solo at max level: the dungeon is long outdated and clears with ease.

2

The most consistent route is to run the entire Sunken Temple rather than hunting a single mob, since the sword drops from various inhabitants.

3

The dungeon is in the Swamp of Sorrows: get there via your faction's nearest flight points and swim to the temple in the center of the lake.

4

Bring a character with fast movement — this speeds up repeat runs when the drop is unlucky.

5

The sword is bind-on-equip, so it cannot be passed to another character: farm it on the one who needs the appearance.

6

Once collected, the appearance unlocks for all characters on the account capable of wielding two-handed swords.
