Overview

Demonic Gladiator's Storm Dragon

Game iconDemonic Gladiator's Storm Dragon is a flying mount that was awarded for achievements in arena Season 7 of the Legion expansion. It is a version of the Stormheim storm dragon corrupted by the energies of the Fel: dark green scales, glowing purple-green eyes, and demonic horns set it apart from ordinary storm dragons.

The mount was a seasonal reward for placing in the top 0.5% of the 3v3 arena rating. It is now unavailable — Legion arena Season 7 ended on July 17, 2018, with the release of the Battle for Azeroth pre-patch (8.0.1), and from that moment the mount can no longer be obtained by any means. If you did not manage to earn it in 2018, this mount will never enter your collection.

Why collectors want this mount

  • Status and prestige — the mount proves that the player was among the top 0.5% of the arena in a specific season. On average there are only a few hundred such players per region
  • A unique Fel model — out of all the storm dragon variants, only the purple-green, demonic, and seasonal gladiator versions received unique color schemes. Most players will never see this version in person
  • Part of the Legion Season 7 collection — together with the "Gladiator" and "Demonic Gladiator" titles, the mount completes the set of seasonal rewards, which also included the Game iconFerocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon, the Game iconFierce Gladiator's Storm Dragon, and the Game iconDominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon
  • Proof of skill — unlike mounts from raids or achievements, gladiator dragons cannot be "farmed out" over time. It is a reward for pure skill in a specific season

How the mount was obtained in Legion Season 7

The mount was awarded for the achievement Gladiator: Legion Season 7, which also granted the "Gladiator" title and the matching armor set. To complete it you had to:

  1. Play 3v3 arena during Legion arena Season 7 (from March 20, 2018, to July 17, 2018)
  2. Win at least 150 games in 3v3 arena for your chosen faction during the current season
  3. Finish the season in the top 0.5% of the 3v3 rating for your faction and region

In addition, there was the achievement Demonic Gladiator: Legion Season 7 — for placing in the top 0.1% of the rating. It granted a separate "Demonic Gladiator" title, but the mount itself was awarded for the regular version of the achievement.

Timeline of Legion arena Season 7

Event Date
Start of Season 7 (Arena Season 25) March 20, 2018
End of season and distribution of rewards July 17, 2018 (release of pre-patch 8.0.1)
Season length About 17 weeks
Receiving the mount and titles Within a few weeks after the end of the season

After the release of patch 8.0.1 "Battle for Azeroth", Legion seasonal content was archived. Rewards were sent out to players who met the criteria, and from that moment the achievement Gladiator: Legion Season 7 became a Feat of Strength — it can no longer be repeated.

Can you get the mount now

No. Each season's gladiator mounts are a closed, single-season reward. Blizzard has never brought such mounts back into the game and has never sold them in the shop. The mount cannot be:

  • Bought for gold or real money
  • Earned retroactively for a high rating in current seasons
  • Obtained by repeating the old achievement
  • Looted from any boss, bag, or container

The only way to have it in your collection is to have earned it in Legion Season 7 in 2018. If you did not play arena during that period or did not reach the top 0.5%, the mount will remain unavailable to you.

Model and appearance

The model is based on the storm dragons of Stormheim, which first appeared in Legion in the quests with the Halfas Storytellers. The demonic version differs from the ordinary ones:

  • Scales — a deep swamp-green shade with black undertones, mimicking the mark of the Fel
  • Glow — greenish lightning runs across the body and wings, instead of the classic blue or white discharge of standard storm dragons
  • Eyes and horns — bright green glowing eyes and elongated horns make the model more aggressive and more "demonic"
  • Flight effect — in flight it leaves a green trail, and on takeoff and landing it flashes with a discharge the color of the Fel

The model is unique to this version of the mount and is not used by other gladiator dragons of the arena seasons.

What to do if you missed it

If you started playing arena after 2018, focus on the current seasons. The current Midnight season grants its own gladiator mount and title — and it can still be earned. A general plan of action for a modern player:

  1. Get current arena gear from the PvP quartermasters in Dornogal
  2. Find a steady 3v3 team — solo group finding will not get you to the "Gladiator" level
  3. Play arena and push your rating to the "Elite" level (2,400), then to a personal 2,400 in 3v3
  4. Win 150 games per season and keep an eye on your faction percentile
  5. At the end of the season, if you make the top 0.5%, you will receive the current Midnight season gladiator mount

Tips and important details

  • The mount is tied to the season — even if a player met the conditions over several seasons in a row, each season grants its own separate gladiator mount
  • Account-wide collection — once obtained, the mount is available to all characters on the account, regardless of faction and class
  • Check your collection — if you played arena in 2018, check the Game iconDemonic Gladiator's Storm Dragon entry in the mount journal under the "Unavailable" tab. The reward may already be in your collection
  • The achievement stays in your profile — even after receiving the mount, the achievement Gladiator: Legion Season 7 continues to appear in the character's "Feats of Strength" section
  • Beware of scammers — listings "selling" gladiator mounts from past seasons are usually tied to account theft or fake offers. Blizzard does not bring back or sell these rewards
  • Watch the announcements — although Blizzard has not yet brought back gladiator mounts, future patches may bring policy changes. In the current Midnight patch there is no such option

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
