Overview

Dim Coldflame Core

Game iconDim Coldflame Core is an epic ground mount that summons a Game iconColdflame Infernal. This is a massive infernal wreathed in icy blue flame — a recolor of the classic Legion infernals. The mount is purchased at the Trading Post for 700 Trader's Tender.

According to the mount journal description: "This strange, icy flame makes you sweat and shiver at the same time." Although the item had existed in the game's database since patch 7.0.3 of the Legion expansion, it remained unavailable to players until the autumn of 2023, when it appeared in the Trading Post's inventory during the Dragonflight expansion.

The mount first appeared in the Trading Post lineup in October 2023, after which it became available again in December 2024. It is currently in the inventory and periodically returns to the Trading Post.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is purchased at the Trading Post with a currency that can be accumulated without any random mechanics. If the item is available in the current month, you obtain it with a 100% chance
  • Unique coloring — the icy blue infernal stands out noticeably against the classic orange and green infernals. It is one of the most atmospheric recolors of the model
  • A link to Legion's legacy — the infernal model comes from the Legion expansion, where they were iconic creatures. The icy variant is a nod to that period of the game's history
  • Available to all characters — once purchased, the mount becomes available on every character on the account
  • Low level requirements — using the mount only requires character level 10 and basic riding skill

How to Obtain

To obtain the mount, you need to wait for the month when the Dim Coldflame Core appears in the Trading Post lineup, and then accumulate 700 Trader's Tender.

  1. Check the current Trading Post lineup. To do this, visit the Trading Post in Stormwind (for the Alliance), Orgrimmar (for the Horde), or Dornogal
  2. Make sure that the Game iconDim Coldflame Core item is available in the current month. The lineup refreshes on the 1st of each month
  3. Accumulate at least 700 Trader's Tender. Each month, every player automatically receives 500 Trader's Tender through the "Collector's Cache" and can earn another 500 through the "Traveler's Log"
  4. Visit the Trading Post vendor and buy the item for 700 Trader's Tender
  5. Use the item from your inventory to add the mount to your collection. It will appear in the "Mounts" section

Where to Find the Trading Post

The Trading Post is a monthly event available in three main locations. The lineup of goods is the same at all points; only the vendor's location differs.

Alliance — Stormwind

The Trading Post is located near the Mage Quarter, next to the Stockades. Look for the distinctive building with a sign and a display of the month's goods.

Horde — Orgrimmar

The Trading Post is situated in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength, not far from the central plaza. The building is visible from afar thanks to its bright sign.

Dornogal

In Dornogal, the capital of The War Within expansion, the Trading Post is also available to both factions. It's a convenient stop if your character is there.

How to Check the Lineup

When visiting the vendor, the Trading Post interface opens, showing all goods available in the current month. Use the "Mounts" filter to quickly find the Dim Coldflame Core if it's on the list.

Trader's Tender — How to Accumulate

Trader's Tender is the main currency of the Trading Post. You need 700 units to purchase the mount.

Monthly Collector's Cache

At the start of each month, every player with an active subscription automatically receives 500 Trader's Tender through the "Collector's Cache" item. The cache appears in your mailbox or directly in your inventory when you log in.

Traveler's Log

The "Traveler's Log" is a monthly list of tasks that grant additional Trader's Tender upon completion. Completing all the tasks fully grants another 500 tender on top of the monthly cache. The tasks include:

  • Wins in battlegrounds and arenas
  • Completing dungeons and raids
  • Gathering profession materials
  • Completing world quests
  • Participating in events across Azeroth

Accumulating Between Months

Unspent Trader's Tender carries over between months. This allows you to save up the currency for more expensive items, including the Dim Coldflame Core. If the mount is unavailable in the current month, keep saving tender until the next lineup refresh.

Freeze Feature

If the Dim Coldflame Core appears in the lineup but you don't have enough Trader's Tender, use the freeze feature. It lets you reserve one item, which will remain available the following month even if it's removed from the general lineup.

When to Expect the Mount's Return

The Dim Coldflame Core is not a permanent Trading Post item. Blizzard periodically brings it back into the lineup, but the exact schedule is not announced in advance.

Tips

1

Check the Trading Post at the start of the month — the lineup refreshes on the 1st. If the Dim Coldflame Core has appeared, don't postpone the purchase: the item is guaranteed to be available throughout the month

2

Complete the Traveler's Log every month — even if you don't plan to buy anything, regularly completing tasks lets you save up currency for future lineups. Tender doesn't expire and carries over between months

3

Use the freeze — if you don't have enough tender at the moment the mount appears, freeze it. This guarantees it will remain available next month while you accumulate currency

4

The mount is ground-only — the Coldflame Infernal doesn't fly. You'll need another mount for air travel

5

Low requirements — the mount is available from level 10. This makes it a good choice for fresh characters and alts

6

Keep an eye on the news — to avoid missing the mount's return to the lineup, read Blizzard's announcements at the end of each month

7

Don't confuse it with other infernals — several "cores" exist in the game database that summon infernals of different colors. Make sure you're buying exactly the inv_infernalmountblueDim Coldflame Core with ID 137576

8

Save Trader's Tender in advance — 700 Trader's Tender is a substantial part of the monthly currency income. If you plan to make the purchase, don't spend Trader's Tender on other cosmetic items in the preceding months
