Overview

Dignified Headmaster's Charge

Game iconDignified Headmaster's Charge is a two-handed intellect staff from the heirloom category. It is bound to your account, can be mailed between characters on the same account, and scales with the owner's level, so it stays relevant from the start of leveling all the way to the cap. Its base stats grant +32 Intellect, +11 Stamina, and +14 Critical Strike, making it a handy companion for any caster on cloth and beyond.

In terms of appearance, this is a reworked, "ennobled" version of the legendary Game iconHeadmaster's Charge staff — it uses the same model and the same icon, recognizable by the golden skull finial on a dark shaft. The original dropped from the final boss of the Scholomance dungeon and for years remained one of the most coveted looks for mages and warlocks. The heirloom version recreates the silhouette but is far easier to obtain: you only need to visit a vendor.

Source

The Dignified Headmaster's Charge is purchased from heirloom keepers for gold. The standard price of a two-handed heirloom weapon is 750 gold.

  • For the Horde, the appearance is sold by Estelle Gendry, the heirloom "keeper." You can find her in Orgrimmar above the main gates; if your character has not completed the Battle for Lordaeron campaign, she remains in Undercity, in the Rogues' Quarter.
  • For the Alliance, the same item is sold by Krom Stoutarm, an heirloom keeper. He stands in Ironforge, in the Hall of Explorers.
  • The appearance is account-bound: by buying the staff on one character, you unlock the look for all of them at once, and the item itself can be mailed to any ally or comrade on the same account.
  • The purchase requires no reputation, achievements, or prerequisite quests — you only need gold and access to your faction's capital.

Who It Suits Visually

The look is built around a dark shaft and a golden skull-shaped finial, so it leans toward grim academic and necromantic themes.

  • It looks great in warlock and mage sets in a black-and-gold palette — the finial echoes the golden trim of many caster tiers.
  • It fits Scholomance- and Scourge-styled looks: dark cloth, bone and skull motifs.
  • It contrasts strikingly with the bright vestments of a priest or druid, turning a "scholar" into a sinister mentor of the dark arts.
  • It is fitting for roleplay looks of a magic instructor or an academy headmaster — the name and model directly reference this theme.

Tips

1

Buy the staff on a caster character of any level: the appearance unlocks for your transmog collection right after purchase.

2

For leveling a new character, the item is doubly valuable — it grants real stats and scales to the maximum level.

3

If you want to save gold, check whether the look is available from other heirloom keepers for different currencies — the appearance model stays the same.

4

For the original look, drop by Scholomance: the dungeon is long outdated and can be cleared solo, and Darkmaster Gandling can be killed without preparation.

5

Keep in mind that the Dignified Headmaster's Charge and Jordan's Greatstaff share stats but not the model: for an appearance collection it makes sense to grab both.

6

Mail the staff between your own characters — heirlooms keep their properties and save space in your bags.
