Get Dimension-Ripper's Staff
Overview

The
Dimension-Ripper's Staff is a two-handed staff from the Warlords of Draenor expansion, granted as a cosmetic reward for clearing dungeons in Challenge Mode with a gold medal. The model leans on a deep purple palette with a crystalline head and ragged edges of energy, as if the staff were tearing the very fabric of space apart — hence the name. It is one of six Draenor challenger weapon variants united by a shared style and glow.
The staff offered no combat stats in the modern sense and was valued purely for its looks. Its appearance is available only to those who unlocked the reward before Draenor's Challenge Mode closed, so today it is rarely seen and serves as a marker of veterans from that period.
Source
The appearance was tied to the Challenge Warlord: Gold achievement. It required clearing all eight Warlords of Draenor dungeons in Challenge Mode with a gold result against the timer.
- After earning the achievement, the staff and the other five weapons could be bought for in-game gold from the challenge vendors.
- For the Alliance, the vendor was Challenger Savina in the city of Stormshield.
- For the Horde, the same selection was sold by Challenger Sunforge in the city of Warspear.
- The price of a single weapon was around 1000 gold.
- With patch 7.0.3 (the Legion pre-patch), Draenor's Challenge Mode was retired, and its medal rewards were moved into the legacy category.
It is important to understand: this appearance cannot be obtained now. The "Challenge Warlord: Gold" achievement is no longer awarded, and the vendors no longer offer the challenger weapons. If the appearance was not unlocked before 2016, adding it to your collection is no longer possible.
Who It Suits Visually
- Suits mages and warlocks who play up the theme of warping space and portals through the purple glow and ragged energy edges.
- Harmonizes with sets in a deep purple and amethyst range — for example, with cloth sets built around void and arcane motifs.
- Looks great in Shadow priest looks thanks to the cold crystalline head.
- Contrasts strikingly with gold and crimson sets — a debatable but memorable choice for bold looks.
Tips
Check your appearances journal: if you played Warlords of Draenor and ran Challenge Mode, the staff may have been saved to your collection even if you forgot about it.
If the appearance is already unlocked, you can apply it to any staff of a suitable type through standard transmogrification.
The combined item
Arsenal: Draenor Challenger's Armaments unlocks all six weapons at once — handy if you earned the achievement but did not buy out each weapon individually.
When putting together a look, keep in mind that the head gives off its own glow, so the staff is noticeable even against the dark backdrop of zones.
Do not waste time looking for the staff from active vendors or in dungeons: with the closure of Challenge Mode, the source vanished from the game entirely.
If you collect rare appearances, the staff is valuable precisely for its unavailability — rewards like this highlight an account's tenure.
