Overview

Dominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon

Game iconDominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon is an epic flying mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 7.0.3 of the Legion expansion. It is a massive armored storm dragon with golden-yellow scales, forged armor in a dark brass tone, and glowing blue lightning running along its spine. The model is related to the dragons of Stormheim and belongs to one of the most prestigious lines of PvP mounts in the game's history.

The mount was available only during Season 6 of Legion arena and was granted for earning the achievement Dominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon — the reward for obtaining the Gladiator title in that season. The mount can no longer be obtained: the season closed on March 20, 2018, and the dragon belongs to the exclusive seasonal rewards whose distribution has ended forever.

Why you want this mount

  • Prestige status — every mount in the Storm Dragon line is proof that the player reached the top 0.5% of rated arena in their region. These dragons are instantly recognized by the community as a Gladiator reward
  • Unique coloration — a yellow-gold variant with armor in cool tones. It is the only mount in the line with this palette; the other six variants are colored differently
  • Collector's value — since the mount is no longer granted, owning it is permanently tied to the account and serves as a marker that you played actively and successfully in Season 6 of Legion
  • Flying form and speed — a full flying mount that works in all zones of Azeroth where flight is enabled. It uses the Expert Riding skill
  • Account-wide availability — like other epic mounts, once obtained it is added to the account collection and is available to all characters regardless of faction and class

Mount status

As of the current Midnight expansion (2026), the mount is unavailable for obtaining. This is a non-returnable seasonal reward — Blizzard has officially confirmed that the mythic Storm Dragon line from Legion is not coming back in any form: not through a saddle vendor, not through a trading post event, and not through the Blizzard shop. If you were not a Gladiator in Season 6 of Legion between November 28, 2017 and March 20, 2018, the mount can no longer be obtained.

Not to be confused with Vicious mounts. Current PvP seasons run on the Game iconVicious Saddle system, which lets you buy older PvP mounts from vendors in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. But this applies only to the Vicious War Steed and Vicious War Saber lines, not to the seasonal Gladiator dragons.

Obtaining requirements (historical context)

For those who want to understand how the mount was granted at the time:

Requirement Value
Season Season 6 of Legion arena
Achievement Gladiator: Legion Season 6
Rating Reaching the top 0.5% of rated 3v3 arena
Minimum wins 150 wins in 3v3 on the current faction during the season
Additional title Gladiator
Meta-achievement Dominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon
Additional mount variant None

Besides the mount itself, the same requirements granted the player the "Gladiator" title (for the duration of the season). Separately, there was the achievement Dominant Gladiator: Legion Season 6 for reaching the top 0.1% of the rating — it granted the permanent "Dominant Gladiator" title, but the mount for it was the very same one earned by a regular Gladiator.

Legion Season 6 dates

Event Date
Season start November 28, 2017 (alongside the opening of the Antorus raid)
Season end March 20, 2018
Reward distribution About two weeks after the season closed
Patch during the season 7.3.5

After the season closed, the 7th and final season of Legion began, which granted a different dragon — Game iconDemonic Gladiator's Storm Dragon. That is why the Dominant variant could only be obtained strictly within these four months.

If the mount is already in your collection

You can check whether you own the mount in the Mount Journal (default hotkey Shift + P) — the "Flying" section. If the mount was obtained during Season 6 of Legion, it remains in the collection forever and is available on all characters of the account.

As of now (2026, Midnight) the mount continues to work in all locations where flight is allowed. It is compatible with dynamic flight

Tips and practical notes

  • Verify authenticity when buying an account — if you are offered an account with the Dominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon, remember that the mount is bound to the account and does not transfer to another account or through trading. Any "sell the mount separately" scheme is a scam
  • Do not expect a return — Blizzard traditionally does not bring back Gladiator seasonal rewards through any mechanic. Unlike achievements and meta-mounts that sometimes return via events, the Storm Dragon lines are fully closed
  • If you really were a Gladiator that season — check the mount journal and, if the mount is missing, contact Blizzard support. There were rare cases where the reward did not arrive due to a bug with a character transfer or a faction change at the end of the season
  • For new PvP players — look at the current arena seasons in Midnight. They run a similar reward scheme, and the mount for the Gladiator title in the current season will be just as prestigious in a few years

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
