Get Doom's Edge
Overview

Doom's Edge is an epic-quality one-handed axe from the original game. It is a compact axe with a massive serrated blade in a dark finish, kept in the sinister "dragon" aesthetic of the raid it comes from. Despite its modest item level, the model remains one of the most recognizable classic one-handed axes.
The axe binds to your character on pickup and is flagged as unique, so today its only real value is as a transmog. Collectors who want a grim one-handed axe from early Azeroth hunt down its striking silhouette.
Source
Doom's Edge drops from ordinary enemies in the Blackwing Lair raid. It is not a guaranteed reward from a specific boss, but a rare drop from several types of trash mobs between bosses.
- The axe drops from three kinds of enemies: the Blackwing Spellbinder, the Death Talon Overseer, and the Blackwing Warlock.
- The drop chance is low, so it may take several runs through the raid.
- Blackwing Lair sits inside Blackrock Mountain; the entrance is through Blackrock Spire.
- Attunement to the raid was removed long ago: you no longer need a separate quest chain and can walk straight in.
- At max level the raid is cleared solo without trouble, which makes farming the appearance convenient.
Since the axe drops specifically from regular trash and not from bosses, it makes sense to clear the incoming packs between bosses rather than rushing past them for speed.
Who It Suits Visually
- Fits grim warrior or paladin looks in dark plate armor.
- Pairs well with black-and-red and charcoal color schemes thanks to the dark metal of the blade.
- Looks great as a paired weapon alongside another serrated axe in rogue or hunter sets.
- Complements "dragon"-themed looks, echoing the color palette of the Blackwing Lair raid.
Tips
The most convenient way to farm is on a class with self-healing — paladin, death knight, hunter, and demon hunter clear the raid quickly and risk-free.
Don't skip the mob packs between bosses: they are the ones that give a chance at the axe.
The raid resets weekly, so a single run per week lets you take all the available drop chances.
Since the axe binds to your character, decide in advance which of your characters needs the appearance: you won't be able to transfer it.
Blackwing Lair shares an entrance with other Blackrock Mountain dungeons — check the route beforehand so you don't end up in a neighboring instance.
Besides this axe, the raid drops plenty of other classic transmog, so a single run often brings back several useful models at once.
