Overview

Драконье возмездие

Game iconDraconic Avenger is an epic-quality two-handed axe from the classic era of World of Warcraft. Its massive double-sided blade with a serrated edge and dark bronze metal echoes the draconic theme of the raid where the axe is obtained. It is one of the recognizable "classic" two-handed axe models that collectors value for its solid, heavy silhouette.

The weapon suits classes that use two-handed axes: warriors, paladins, and death knights. The item level is 40 and the required level is 30, but it drops in a raid inside Blackrock Mountain, so in practice the model is collected at max level.

Unlike many epic axes of that era, this model does not drop from a named boss but from one of the raid's elite guards, so the chance of collecting it is higher than for its "boss" counterparts.

Source

Draconic Avenger drops from the Death Talon Wyrmguard, an elite dragonkin in the Blackwing Lair raid.

  • The drop chance is around 5.6%.
  • It is not the final boss but an elite guard, several of which appear in the raid, which raises the total chance per run.
  • There is no attempt limit: the raid can be cleared once a week on reset, and at max level it is effectively unrestricted by difficulty.

Blackwing Lair is a classic raid inside Blackrock Mountain, with its entrance located in the Burning Steppes. This former 40-player raid from Nefarian's era has long become solo content: at level 90 in the current Midnight expansion, it can be completed alone by any class.

To reach the raid, you need to make your way deep into Blackrock Mountain toward Blackrock Spire; the entrance to Blackwing Lair is located in the upper part of the underground complex.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It fits plate sets in dark and bronze shades, for example classic raid warrior sets.
  • It harmonizes with draconic and reptilian themes thanks to the serrated blade and distinctive metal.
  • It pairs with "brutal" orcish looks due to its massive, rough silhouette.
  • It contrasts with light or silvery sets, a debatable but expressive accent for a dark look.

Tips

1

The optimal class for solo farming is a death knight or paladin thanks to high survivability in melee.

2

The axe drops from an elite guard rather than a boss, so destroy every Death Talon Wyrmguard on the way to the bosses, not just them.

3

A chance of around 5.6% means the model drops on average over several weeks of runs, so plan for a series of attempts.

4

The raid resets once a week, but at max level you can enter right away, and a solo clear takes only a few minutes.

5

The entrance to Blackwing Lair is in the upper part of Blackrock Mountain; the most convenient way to get there is through the Burning Steppes.

6

Along the way, other classic transmog models drop from the raid's trash mobs and bosses, so the run pays off even without the target axe.
