WoW Forever Feral Combat Druid — Specialization Changes
Specialization Overview
Melee and tanking. Feral Combat is one tree for two forms.
Cat Form deals damage: energy from King of the Jungle, a burst window through Berserk and empowered abilities against a bleeding target.
Bear Form and
Dire Bear Form hold enemies: Mangle with a three-target hit, rage from dodges and armor from defense skill. Points and gear for tanking and for damage compete with each other, so you need to settle on your role in advance.
Class Changes
Tiger's Fury and the New Furor
In Classic, the cat spent mana on shapeshifts: leave the form nearly empty on energy, come back, receive a fixed 40 energy from the talent at rank five and squeeze a
Shred in between energy ticks. The wolfshead helm added another 20 on entry. Classic
Tiger's Fury meanwhile spent energy for a brief damage boost rather than refilling the bar.
King of the Jungle in Forever makes
Tiger's Fury an instant energy source: at rank one that is 20 energy. Spend energy so the gain is not wasted, and use the ability when you have something to strike with immediately afterward.
Ferocity and Savage Fury each make their own abilities cheaper.
Furor now returns a percentage of the energy from your last time in Cat Form plus energy for the time spent outside Bear, Cat and Dire Bear forms, with a cap by rank. At rank five that is 100% of that energy plus ten per second outside those forms, but no more than 100. An instant leave and return with an empty bar no longer grants the former fixed 40 energy.
Bleeds, Generators and Berserk
Rend and Tear increases the damage of melee abilities against a bleeding target. This makes it worth maintaining a bleed not only for its own ticks — if the target lives to the following hits. Blood Frenzy empowers the listed abilities, including
Lacerate and
Shred, while Predatory Instincts increase the critical damage bonus of abilities. Bleeds can also crit, so gear with crit works both while you spend energy on generators and while you step out of a mechanic. Let useful ticks run their course instead of refreshing early, but do not buy a long bleed on an extra enemy that needs to die right now.
Berserk gives 100% critical strike chance to combo-building abilities for 15 seconds.
Primal Fury meanwhile can add another combo point on a non-periodic critical strike from such an ability, so during this window you need to watch your points especially closely: spend them before the next generator goes to waste. Critical bleed ticks grant no points — the talent explicitly requires a non-periodic critical strike from an ability that builds them.
Mangle, AoE and Pack Control
Mangle requires Bear Form or Dire Bear Form and costs 20 rage. Berserk removes its cooldown and for 15 seconds lets it hit up to three targets — but the cost still remains, so keep a rage reserve. For the bear this is the main multi-target payoff; the condition about combo-generator crits applies to the cat. Plan Berserk for a dangerous pack or a wave of extra enemies rather than spending it on the last foe in an easy fight. It also removes fear and grants immunity to it for its full duration — that is already a defensive function.
Feral Instinct increases the damage of
Swipe, and Blood Frenzy includes
Swipe and
Maul. Spread your attention across the enemies your group is actually striking, and keep targets controlled outside your strike zone. With the very first AoE hit, build threat before the fighters engage their abilities, and watch for enemies outside the three targets of Mangle.
Dodge, Armor and Defense Skill
Natural Reaction adds dodge and a chance to gain rage on a dodge.
Primal Fury grants a separate chance for rage on critical strikes in Bear Form. Both help with the resource, but neither promises rage at the exact moment you need an emergency button. Keep a reserve for your next mandatory action rather than spending as if every dodge will pay off.
In Classic the bear relied on armor, stamina and dodge, while defense skill reduced the chance to be critically hit;
Thick Hide then increased armor from items. In Forever instead you gain additional base armor per level and per point of defense skill above five times your level — in Bear, Cat, Dire Bear and
Moonkin Form — and that armor is then multiplied by the form's multipliers. So defense skill provides damage mitigation, but no talent guarantees immunity to crits. Compare an item's added armor against the stamina and armor of the alternative.
Heart of the Wild increases stamina in Bear Form, so weigh the survivability trade in full and with regard to the damage you take: armor does not solve a burst of spell damage.
Utility That Leaves No Gaps
Feral Charge in its charge variant immobilizes the enemy and interrupts its current spell for four seconds. Save it for a dangerous caster or an enemy you genuinely need to reach.
Brutal Impact increases the stun duration of
Bash and shortens its cooldown — another control option where the target is susceptible to it. These tools work best in concert, not when spent together on a harmless cast.
In Cat Form
Feral Charge is a leap behind the enemy with a three-second stun, and it is precisely a re-engage and positioning tool, not a replacement for an interrupt. Feral Swiftness helps you reach the next target faster. When you leave form to help the group, keep enough mana for the return — Furor will return energy for the time spent outside forms.
Leader of the Pack grants crit to the group while you are in any beast form, including bear. That means a tank can provide the same aura. The ability to switch to healing or damage between pulls stays useful, but leaving Bear Form while an active boss is on you leaves the group unprotected — arrange a target handoff in advance.

Talent Overview
This specialization's branch holds exactly 51 points — the entire budget goes into it in full. A fully filled tree covers both roles at once: damage in Cat Form and tanking in Bear Form. If you play only one of them, it makes sense to move part of the points into neighboring trees for your task.
This is not a ready leveling build. It is only an example distribution of abilities for reference.
Talents
Weapon Choice
In beast forms weapon damage does not count at all — only the item's stats work. So a druid's two-handed weapon is judged by attack power, agility, strength and stamina, while its own damage per hit plays no role.
For the cat the priority is attack power, agility and crit. Agility gives both attack power through
Predatory Strikes and crit and dodge, and crit in Forever pays for several things at once: Predatory Instincts increase the critical damage of abilities,
Primal Fury turns crits into combo points, and bleeds can crit too.
For the bear the priority is stamina, armor and dodge. Defense skill now adds base armor that the form multiplies, so items with defense are worth comparing against alternatives not only by crit reduction but by resulting armor.
Heart of the Wild increases stamina, but armor does not save you from a burst of spell damage.
Two gear sets are normal practice for this branch. The same equipment rarely covers both damage in Cat Form and tanking in Bear Form equally well.
