Duelist's Dancing Steel is an epic one-handed sword from The War Within expansion. Despite the "duelist" name that nods to the lore, it is not a rated PvP reward but a raid trophy: the blade was wielded by Sikran, the court swordmaster of Queen Ansurek.
The model is an elegant curved blade with a dark guard and nerubian engraving along the edge. The silhouette is light, closer to a saber than to a straight sword, so the weapon reads well in one hand for melee fighters. The sword carries Strength stats, so it joins the collections of classes that wear plate and use Strength: warriors, death knights, and paladins.
The appearance changes color depending on the item level: the higher the upgrade rank through crests, the more saturated the blade's glow. For transmog, the model itself is what matters — it unlocks in your collection when you obtain any version of the item.
The sword drops from the third boss of the Nerub-ar Palace raid — Sikran, captain of the Sureki. This is a The War Within raid, so in Midnight it has become outdated and can be cleared with a small group or solo at level 90.
To farm the transmog, it is most convenient to go solo on Raid Finder or Normal difficulty — Sikran poses no threat in outdated content and is killed in a few seconds.
Farming the sword is most convenient on a plate-wearing character with a melee specialization — that way the chosen loot specialization guarantees that a one-handed weapon can drop at all.
Go on Raid Finder or Normal difficulty: for outdated content this is enough, and the runs are faster.
Sikran resets once a week on each difficulty separately, so in a single gaming day you can make up to four attempts on different difficulty levels.
Bring alts of the same armor type — each character receives its own loot roll from the boss.
If the sword does not drop, make sure that a specialization using one-handed weapons is selected in the loot specialization window.
The appearance unlocks in your collection when you obtain any version of the item; there is no need to upgrade it with crests for transmog.
