Overview

Duskflutter Ardenmoth

Duskflutter Ardenmoth is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.0.1 of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a large moth from the forests of Ardenweald with delicate wings adorned with lunar patterns. The mount is purchased from quartermaster Aithlyn in the Heart of the Forest (Ardenweald) for 30,000 gold once you reach Exalted reputation with the The Wild Hunt faction.

These ardenmoths prefer the dark, damp forests of northwestern Ardenweald, where fungal colonies bloom without end. The mount has a pleasant flight animation — its wings shimmer with a soft twilight glow, and a trail of sparks follows the character.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the Duskflutter Ardenmoth is bought from a vendor. As soon as you reach the required reputation and save up the gold, the mount is yours
  • Affordable price — 30,000 gold is significantly cheaper than many other vendor mounts. You can save up this amount over a few days of regular play
  • Unique model — the moth stands out among standard mounts. The twilight coloring with lunar patterns on the wings looks especially striking in dark locations
  • Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, adapting to your riding skill
  • Available to all characters — once purchased, the mount becomes available to every character on your account

How to Obtain

To buy the mount you must meet two requirements: reach Exalted reputation with the The Wild Hunt faction and have 30,000 gold.

  1. Reach Ardenweald in the Shadowlands. If you are going through Shadowlands content for the first time, the zone will open up over the course of the main storyline. For alternate characters, choose the "Threads of Fate" leveling path and head to Ardenweald directly
  2. Complete story and side quests in Ardenweald — they grant initial reputation with the Wild Hunt
  3. Raise your reputation with the Wild Hunt to Exalted (42,000 points total from Neutral to Exalted)
  4. Save up 30,000 gold
  5. Head to the Heart of the Forest and find quartermaster Aithlyn at coordinates 48.5, 50.4
  6. Purchase the Duskflutter Ardenmoth and use the item to learn the mount

How to Reach the Vendor

Quartermaster Aithlyn is located in the Heart of the Forest — the central hub of Ardenweald. There are several ways to reach the vendor.

Via Oribos

  1. Reach Oribos — the central city of the Shadowlands. A portal to Oribos is available in your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar)
  2. Use the portal to Ardenweald located in the Hall of Shapes in Oribos
  3. From the arrival point, head toward the Heart of the Forest — it is marked on the map
  4. Find Aithlyn at coordinates 48.5, 50.4

Alternative — Buying in Oribos

If you do not want to fly to Ardenweald, the mount is also sold by the NPC Leafmender in the Oribos Enclave. The reputation requirement and cost are the same.

Farming Reputation with the Wild Hunt

To reach Exalted you need to gather 42,000 reputation points. The main sources are listed below.

Story and Side Quests (Starting Bonus)

Completing Ardenweald's main campaign and side quests grants a large one-time reputation bonus. Complete every available quest in the zone — this lays the foundation for further farming.

World Quests (Main Source)

World quests in Ardenweald are the main way to earn reputation daily. Each quest grants roughly 75–175 reputation points with the Wild Hunt. Quests refresh several times a day.

Callings

Callings are the equivalent of emissary quests from previous expansions. When a Calling tied to Ardenweald is active, complete the listed tasks to receive 1,500 reputation points with the Wild Hunt. Callings refresh daily and remain available for three days.

Weekly Quests

Each week, two reputation quests for a chosen faction are available in Oribos. Each quest grants 500 points, for a total of 1,000 points per week.

Contract: The Wild Hunt

Scribes can craft a contract that grants an additional 10 reputation points with the Wild Hunt for every world quest completed in any Shadowlands zone. The contract can be bought at the auction house. To use it you need at least Friendly reputation.

Additional Sources

  • Ardenweald dungeons — completing the "Mists of Tirna Scithe" and "Theater of Pain" dungeons counts toward an active Calling if one is available
  • Command Table — Command Table missions can reward Wild Hunt reputation tokens
  • World Quest Bonus Event — during the event week, world quests grant increased reputation

Optimizing the Grind

Daily Plan

At max level, farming reputation in Ardenweald does not take long. The optimal order of actions:

  1. Check active Callings — if there is a Calling tied to Ardenweald, complete it first (+1,500 reputation)
  2. Complete all available world quests in Ardenweald
  3. Make sure you have an active Wild Hunt contract and complete world quests in other zones for extra points
  4. Check the weekly quests in Oribos
  5. Send Command Table missions for reputation tokens

How Long It Takes

With active farming, completing all available quests daily, reaching Exalted takes roughly 3–4 weeks. The contract and bonus events speed up the process.

Darkmoon Faire

During the Darkmoon Faire, ride the carousel to gain the "WHEE!" buff (+10% to reputation gained for 60 minutes). Activate it before completing world quests and Callings.

Tips

1

Start with the story — do not skip the quests in Ardenweald. The storyline grants a significant one-time reputation bonus and unlocks world quests

2

Use the contract — the Wild Hunt contract is cheap at the auction house and applies to all world quests in the Shadowlands. It is a passive reputation source that adds up over time

3

Combine with the Darkmoon Faire — the "WHEE!" buff from the carousel lasts 60 minutes and increases reputation gained by 10%. Visit the faire before completing quests

4

Check world quests several times a day — quests refresh every few hours. You can miss available quests if you only log in once a day

5

Alternative vendor in Oribos — if flying to Ardenweald is inconvenient, the mount can be bought from Leafmender in the Oribos Enclave. The requirements are the same

6

Mount is account-wide — farm reputation on whichever character is most convenient. Once purchased, the mount becomes available to all your characters

7

The cost is low — 30,000 gold can be earned in a few days by selling resources and running outdated content at max level
