Edge of Night — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Edge of Night is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion alongside patch 9.1. The blade is rendered in a dark palette with a deep green glow: a curved edge, a bone guard and a grim silhouette directly evoke the image of Sylvanas Windrunner and the banshee theme.
The dagger has a signature equip effect,
Banshee's Blight: attacks apply a debuff of the same name to the target, and finishing moves gain a chance to deal extra shadow damage. This has no impact on transmog farming, but it explains why in patch 9.1 the dagger was one of the top dream items for rogues.
Source
Edge of Night drops from the final raid boss, Sylvanas Windrunner, in the Sanctum of Domination raid. This is a Shadowlands raid located in the Maw at the very top of Torghast.
- The dagger drops from the Sylvanas encounter on any difficulty: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic.
- It is the only source of this appearance: the dagger is not sold by vendors, not crafted by a profession and not awarded for a quest.
- The drop chance is low, roughly 1% per kill, so getting the transmog in a single visit is rare.
- You can enter the raid once per week on each character of your account, so multiple characters increase your total number of attempts.
- The appearance unlocks in the transmogrification collection when any character on the account obtains the item.
How to reach the raid
If you are not already in the Shadowlands, take the portal to Oribos. Go up to the upper tier of the city and jump into the central pit; it will carry you into The Maw. From there, head to the northern part of the zone and climb to its very top: the raid entrance sits by the northern keep of the Maw among elite enemies. There are no flight points nearby, so it is most convenient to sneak to the entrance in stealth on a rogue or druid, or to use leap abilities and a glider.

Alternatives / recolors
Edge of Night has no known recolors: it is a unique model created specifically for the weapon from the Sylvanas Windrunner encounter. It does not appear in any other color variants in the game.
If you are building a dark "banshee" look around the Banshee Queen, take a look at the companion loot from the same fight, which is styled to match:

The legendary bow
Rae'shalare, Death's Whisper is Sylvanas's personal weapon and the only truly "matching" item by theme: the same dark silhouette and greenish glow as the dagger. It is available to hunters only, but it works well as a palette reference. The two-handed axe
Hellscream's Requiem from the same fight completes the dark set for a warrior, death knight or paladin.
Who it suits visually
- The dagger is the centerpiece of an assassin rogue look in dark "shadow" sets: black leather with green or purple accents.
- It looks great paired with blood elf and dark ranger themed gear, sharing a common green-and-black palette.
- It harmonizes with the plate and mail armor from the Sanctum of Domination, letting you build a cohesive "single raid" set.
- It suits themed looks tied to the Maw and Torghast, the grim armor of the Shadowlands.
- A contrasting yet expressive choice for light outfits that need one dark accent in hand.
Tips
In the Midnight expansion, the raid can be cleared solo: a character's stats at level 90 are far higher than back in Shadowlands, and the Sylvanas fight poses no trouble.
The Sylvanas fight is not hard, but it is long and multi-phased, especially solo: keep a high attack tempo so you do not drag out the third phase.
In the third phase there is a moment where you need to leap to an adjacent platform; simply run off the edge when it lights up, and the landing triggers automatically.
Enter the raid on every character of your account: each character grants a separate weekly attempt at the dagger.
Difficulty does not matter for transmog: the appearance is identical at every level, so pick Raid Finder or Normal difficulty, which is faster.
During the same fight you can pick up Sylvanas's other rare rewards along the way, including the legendary bow
Rae'shalare, Death's Whisper, so the farm is never wasted.
Nine bosses lead up to Sylvanas in the Sanctum of Domination; if you only want the dagger, most of your time goes into the path to the final fight rather than the run itself.
When farming on a rogue or druid, it is convenient to walk straight to the raid entrance in stealth, bypassing the elite mobs on the approach to the keep in the northern part of the Maw.
