Overview

Envoy of Mortality

Game iconEnvoy of Mortality is a ranged firearm added in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion alongside the revamped Naxxramas raid. It is a massive gun with a dark metallic barrel and a heavy stock, styled in the grim Scourge aesthetic. The model is a great fit for hunters who want an imposing weapon of war rather than a light hunting carbine.

The item's stats have long been irrelevant, so the gun's value today is purely transmog. Its dark silhouette with cold metallic detailing makes it an excellent find for looks themed around undeath, the Scourge, and a grim gothic style.

Source

The gun drops from the raid's final boss — it is a raid drop with no alternative sources.

  • Boss: Kel'Thuzad, the last and strongest opponent in Naxxramas.
  • Raid: Naxxramas — a raid from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the Scourge's floating necropolis citadel hovering above Dragonblight.
  • It drops in the 25-player version of the raid; the drop chance is around 13%.
  • There are no per-character restrictions: the raid resets weekly, and you can run it for as many consecutive weeks as you need.

Naxxramas is an outdated raid that can be soloed at current level by almost any class. Kel'Thuzad uses phased mechanics with summoned minions and freezing effects, but with a large level advantage that is no obstacle: simply survive his abilities and finish off the boss. After the kill, check the loot for the gun.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It harmonizes with looks themed around undeath and the Scourge — dark armor with bony and metallic elements.
  • It suits hunters who want an imposing weapon of war instead of a light hunting carbine.
  • It looks great with the cold blue-steel and black palette of mail sets.
  • It contrasts with bright and nature-themed looks — a debatable but striking choice for a dark "mercenary" build.

Tips

1

The optimal class for farming is any with a fast raid clear; the path to Kel'Thuzad requires clearing all four wings and the Military Quarter.

2

It makes sense to enter the raid once a week on several characters: each separate reset is its own independent shot at the drop.

3

On the way to Kel'Thuzad you also collect other Naxxramas transmog, including tier sets, so a full clear pays off with several appearances per run.

4

The gun must be sought specifically in the 25-player version of the raid — it does not drop in the 10-player version.

5

The item is bound when obtained, so you cannot transfer it between characters — farm it on the hero who needs it for their appearance collection.

6

If the gun stubbornly refuses to drop, don't fixate on a single week: with a chance of around 13%, the spread across attempts can be large.
