Feathered Windsurfer
Overview

Feathered Windsurfer String is an item that teaches the rare flying mount
Feathered Windsurfer. The mount is a brightly colored kite shaped like a giant feathered bird: your character appears to soar through the sky while holding on to a long string. It is one of the "kite" mount variants introduced in patch 10.2.7 alongside the seasonal event WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria.
The flavor text on the string's instructions recommends that you "check the wind strength and altitude before flight, avoid trees and other tall objects, and note that damaged kites are not eligible for return or exchange." The mount was originally sold exclusively for Bronze — the event's special currency — and became unavailable after Remix ended on August 20, 2024. However, the developers later announced a gradual return of some Remix mounts through the Trading Post, so the chance to obtain the string in the future remains.
Why you want this mount
- Unique model — the kite mount with its feathered bird-serpent looks completely unconventional compared to typical dragons and gryphons, and instantly draws attention in the capital.
- Limited availability — the mount was sold only during WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria (May–August 2024), which makes it a collector's item.
- Universal speed — the spell
Feathered Windsurfer automatically adapts its movement type and speed to your riding skill and zone. - Account-wide — once learned, the mount is bound to your collection and appears on all characters regardless of faction.
- Part of a themed set — WoW Remix sold several similar kites and other rare mounts, so the string fits perfectly into an overall collection of the event's remaining content.
How to obtain
The main and only guaranteed method is to purchase it while the WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria event is active.
- Create a Timerunner character in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, or log in to a previously created one if the event is active
- Accumulate at least 2,200 Bronze by completing zones, dungeons, raids, scenarios, and daily quests across Pandaria
- Head to one of the Infinite Bazaars — they are located in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Valley of the Four Winds, The Jade Forest, Kun-Lai Summit, Townlong Steppes, and Krasarang Wilds
- Find the vendor Hemet Nesingwary XVII — he sells mounts for Bronze
- Buy the
Feathered Windsurfer String for 2,200 Bronze - Open the item — the spell
Feathered Windsurfer will appear in your mount collection and become available to all characters on the account
Where to find Hemet Nesingwary XVII
The mount vendor Hemet Nesingwary XVII is present in every Remix zone of Pandaria. He has several in-game IDs because each zone uses a separate instance.
| Zone | Vendor location |
|---|---|
| The Jade Forest | Infinite Bazaar near Tian Shui |
| Valley of the Four Winds | Infinite Bazaar near Halfhill |
| Vale of Eternal Blossoms | Main Infinite Bazaar near the Temple of the White Tiger |
| Kun-Lai Summit | Infinite Bazaar near Binan Village |
| Townlong Steppes | Infinite Bazaar near Niuzao |
| Krasarang Wilds | Infinite Bazaar near Hemet Nesingwary XVII |
All vendor instances offer the same selection, so buy in whichever zone is most convenient for you.
How to farm Bronze
Bronze is the event's main and only currency. The mount costs 2,200 units, and the full collection of Remix mounts and toys takes over 250,000 Bronze. The main sources are:
- Completing Pandaria zones — every completed story chain awards bags of Bronze
- Dungeons and scenarios — clearing them drops bonus items that sell for Bronze
- Daily quests — the Infinite Bazaar offers weekly and daily Bronze tasks
- Raids — every boss in the Remix raids hands out a significant haul of Bronze and Threads
- Selling excess gear — all unneeded items can be turned in for Bronze through the vendor dialog
- Big Bags of Bronze — drop from elites and rare treasures all across Pandaria
Optimal route
- Roll a character with a fast AoE-clearing spec — Retribution Paladin, Mage, Demon Hunter
- Upgrade the core set of "Infinite Power" gems first — it directly boosts your damage
- Alternate between Infinite Bazaar daily quests, zone clears, and dungeon runs for maximum Bronze income
- Don't prioritize buying gear — it resets at the end of the event, while mounts stay forever
Return via the Trading Post
In early 2025, Blizzard announced the gradual return of some mounts from WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria through the Trading Post system. Individual models returned first; the chance for the
Feathered Windsurfer String to appear in one of the future monthly catalogs remains.
- Keep an eye on 11.x.x PTR build announcements — that's usually where future Trading Post rewards surface first
- Check the Trading Post section in the capital each month — Orgrimmar or Stormwind
- Stockpile Trader's Tender so you're ready to buy the mount if it appears in the catalog
Appearance and behavior
The model of the
Feathered Windsurfer mimics a traditional Pandaren kite shaped like a bird with a long, multicolored tail of feathers. When summoned, your character literally grabs the string and floats in the air as if gliding on the wind. The flight animation is smooth, and at higher speed the bird spreads its wings wider.
- Within city limits and low-level zones the mount works as a ground mount with a speed bonus
- On open maps where flying is allowed it turns into a regular flying mount
- In Blue Dragonflight Dragonriding zones the behavior depends on your settings: the mount keeps you in regular flight mode and does not switch to Skyriding
Tips
Don't put off the purchase until the end of the event — once Remix concludes, the currency disappears and the vendor is gone. If the event is active, buy the string first.
Buy several Remix mounts at once — a single trip to Hemet Nesingwary XVII is the most efficient way to close out the cheaper part of the collection.
Optimize alt farming — Bronze is not shared on a single account, but every Timerunner character earns it on its own. Bring in alts to accumulate the needed amount faster.
Watch for event promotions — in the final weeks of Remix, Blizzard increased Bronze gain rates, which let players close the remaining gaps in their collection.
Check your inventory after opening — once the string is used, the mount is permanently bound to the account. The item itself disappears, leaving no separate toy.
If the event is inactive — the only path right now is to wait for the mount to return via the Trading Post or, possibly, in a future Remix season.
