Felsteel Annihilator — How to Get the Mount

Game iconFelsteel Annihilator — an epic flying mount that takes the form of a massive mechanical war machine infused with fel energy. Visually, the mount resembles an armored Iron Horde tank reworked with demonic magic — a combination of dark metal and green flames.

The mount's description reads: "Forged in the depths of Hellfire Citadel by a mad blacksmith, the Felsteel Annihilator combines Iron Horde smithing knowledge with the chaotic fel energies of the Burning Legion in an unholy union of steel and flame."

The mount was added in Patch 6.2.0 (June 23, 2015) during the Warlords of Draenor expansion. While the expansion was current, it dropped at a 100% rate, but after Legion launched, the chance was reduced to approximately 3–4%.

Why You Want This Mount

  • One of the most impressive mechanical mounts in the game — a massive fel machine with a unique model and animation
  • A full flying mount whose speed depends on your riding skill (up to +310% in flight)
  • A prestigious mount — according to community data, approximately 6% of players own it
  • Account-bound — available to all your characters
  • One of the few mounts combining Iron Horde and Burning Legion aesthetics

How to Get the Felsteel Annihilator

There are two ways to obtain this mount.

Method 1 — Drop from Archimonde (Primary)

Game iconFelsteel Annihilator drops from Archimonde, the final boss of the Hellfire Citadel raid, on Mythic difficulty only.

Key details:

  • Drop chance — approximately 3–4% per weekly reset
  • The mount can drop once per week per character
  • Requires clearing all 13 raid bosses (or using skip quests)
  • At the current level 80, the raid is easily soloable

Method 2 — Black Market Auction House

Since Patch 8.2.5, the mount appears on the Black Market Auction House (BMAH). The vendor is Madam Goya.

  • Starting bid: 20,000 gold
  • Maximum bid: 9,999,999 gold (gold cap)
  • Listings appear randomly — there is no way to predict when the mount will be available
  • Competition is fierce; popular mounts often sell for millions of gold

How to Get to Hellfire Citadel

Hellfire Citadel is located in the center of Tanaan Jungle on Draenor. There are several ways to get there.

Via the Ashran Portal (Recommended)

  1. Open the portal room in your faction's capital city:
    • Stormwind (Alliance): Mage Tower, portal to Ashran (Stormshield)
    • Orgrimmar (Horde): Pathfinder's Den, portal to Ashran (Warspear)
  2. From Ashran, fly south through Tanaan Jungle toward the center of the zone
  3. The raid entrance is at the base of the citadel at coordinates 45.6, 53.5

Via Garrison Hearthstone

  1. Use your Garrison Hearthstone (if you have one)
  2. From your Garrison, fly to Tanaan Jungle
  3. Ground access to Tanaan Jungle may require unlocking the zone through the Shipyard quest chain

Alternative Route Through Talador

If you haven't unlocked Tanaan Jungle access via the Shipyard, you can enter through the northern gates of Talador (coordinates approximately 74.5, 8.0 in Talador). From there, travel on foot or by mount to the Citadel.

Raid Walkthrough and Boss Skips

Hellfire Citadel contains 13 bosses. Archimonde is the last one. A full solo clear at level 80 takes roughly 20–30 minutes.

Skip System

You can significantly reduce clear time by unlocking skips (portals):

First Skip — Upper Citadel:

  • After killing Gorefiend (6th boss), Khadgar will offer a quest
  • You need to collect 4 items — one per Gorefiend kill per week
  • Takes 4 weeks to complete
  • Once finished, a portal appears that skips the first 6 bosses

Second Skip — to Mannoroth and Archimonde:

  • After unlocking the first skip, Khadgar will offer a follow-up quest
  • You need to collect 4 items from Mannoroth — one per week
  • Takes another 4 weeks to complete
  • Once finished, a portal appears near Mannoroth, leaving only 2 bosses before Archimonde

In total, fully unlocking all skips requires 8 weeks. Skips are unlocked separately per difficulty.

Farming Optimization

  • Multiple characters. The main way to increase your chances is to run the raid every week on multiple level 80 characters. With a ~3–4% chance per character, 10 alts give you roughly a 30–40% combined weekly chance.
  • Unlock skips. Spend 8 weeks unlocking portals on each character. Afterward, clearing from entrance to Archimonde takes about 5–7 minutes instead of 20–30.
  • Class choice. For fast solo clears, high-mobility classes work best: Demon Hunter, Druid, Monk. At level 80, any class can handle the bosses without issues.
  • Weekly reset. The raid resets every Wednesday (on European servers). Plan your runs right after reset so you don't forget.
  • Black Market. Alongside farming, check the Black Market Auction House. The current BMAH NPC location in The War Within is Dornogal, below the city. Listings refresh daily.
  • Statistics. At a 3–4% drop chance, the mathematical expectation is roughly 25–33 attempts. With one character, that's about half a year; with five, approximately 5–7 weeks.

Tips

1

The mount is account-bound — once obtained on one character, it becomes available to all your characters.

2

Make sure you select Mythic difficulty before entering the raid. The mount does not drop on Normal, Heroic, or Raid Finder difficulty.

3

At level 80, all bosses including Archimonde pose no challenge when soloing. Mechanics that previously required a group are now harmless due to the level difference.

4

Don't forget to check your riding skill: Apprentice Riding suffices for ground use, Master Riding for flight.

5

In addition to the mount, raid bosses drop Warlords of Draenor transmog sets and achievements — combine mount farming with collecting.

6

The mount is a classic flyer — it does not support Dragonriding. It uses the standard flight model.

7

If it's your first time on Draenor, you may need to complete the introductory quest chain to establish a Garrison. This takes about 15–20 minutes but is not required — you can simply fly to the raid via Ashran.
