Overview

Ferocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon

Game iconFerocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft in the Legion expansion (patch 7.0.3) and handed out as a seasonal reward during Legion Season 4 (Arena, Season 22). It is a green storm dragon from Stormheim, described in the mount journal as "an eerie fusion of storm and scale that sets the sky ablaze as it hunts its prey."

The mount is no longer obtainable. Legion Season 4 ended on August 29, 2017 with the release of patch 7.3, and new copies of this dragon no longer enter the game. It remains only with those players who earned the Gladiator title during the season and received a letter from "King" Dond of the Brawl'gar Arena.

Why get this mount

  • A prestigious Gladiator reward — the Legion seasonal dragons are considered one of the most recognizable trophies in rated PvP. Their owners are players who finished the season in the top 0.5% of 3v3 Arena.
  • Unique visuals — a green armored storm dragon model. Legion released a series of seven mounts that share the same model but differ in coloring, and the Ferocious Gladiator's is one of them.
  • Rarity — since the season lasted only about 11 weeks in the summer of 2017, the number of owners is strictly limited, and there are no direct ways left to add this dragon to a collection.
  • The "Gladiator" title — alongside the mount came the permanent title Gladiator: Legion Season 4, which is still displayed in the current patch 11.1 "The War Within."

Season requirements

In Legion Season 4 the Gladiator title and this mount were awarded not for a fixed rating, but for a percentile cutoff on the 3v3 Arena ladder. You had to meet two conditions at once at the moment the season ended:

  1. Finish the season in the top 0.5% of players in your region by 3v3 Arena rating
  2. Earn at least 150 wins during the season on the same rating bracket used for the cutoff

The fixed "2400 rating + 50 wins above 2400" system familiar from later seasons appeared after Legion and was not in effect in Season 4. As a result, the rating needed to reach the top 0.5% fluctuated each week and on average sat above 2700-2800.

How the mount was awarded

After the season ended, Blizzard distributed the rewards manually over several weeks. Players who met the conditions received the following:

  1. Through an in-game letter from "King" Dond of the Brawl'gar Arena came the Game iconFerocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon.
  2. The letter included themed text about the player's arena exploits.
  3. Using the item granted a summoning spell (ID 227991) that adds the mount to a permanent account-wide collection.
  4. The achievement Ferocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon was awarded automatically, recording the acquisition.
  5. Additionally — the achievement Gladiator: Legion Season 4 with the "Gladiator" title, and the achievement Ferocious Gladiator: Legion Season 4 with the seasonal title.

Status in the current patch 11.1

As of April 2026 and Season 2 of The War Within, you have no legitimate way to add the Game iconFerocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon to your collection unless you earned it in the summer of 2017. Neither the weekly rated PvP chests, nor the Game iconVicious Saddle, nor any seasonal mount vendors sell this dragon.

The reasons it is unrealistic to bring this mount's distribution back:

  • It is tied to a specific closed season and a closed percentile cutoff
  • Blizzard preserves seasonal Gladiator rewards as monuments to the time when a player was genuinely at the top of the ladder
  • Attempts to sell or transfer an account with this mount violate the terms of the user agreement and can lead to a ban

If you see someone offering to "sell" or "grant" this mount, it is a scam or a gray-market service with no connection to official channels.

Similar mounts you can get today

The storm dragon model is available through other routes too, and that is exactly what is worth considering if your collection needs a Stormheim dragon:

Mount How to get
Game iconFierce Gladiator's Storm Dragon Legion Season 5 Gladiator reward — also no longer obtainable
Game iconDominant Gladiator's Storm Dragon Legion Season 6 Gladiator reward — also no longer obtainable
Game iconDemonic Gladiator's Storm Dragon Legion Season 7 Gladiator reward — also no longer obtainable

The most accessible option is the Storm Drake from the Halls of Valor. The raid and dungeon are four expansions out of date, can be soloed in 10-15 minutes at max level, and the boss Odyn has a weekly chance to drop the mount.

How a current player can get a seasonal mount

If the goal is not specifically the Ferocious dragon but any current PvP seasonal mount, then in patch 11.1 "The War Within" these options work:

  1. The seasonal Gladiator reward — each The War Within season hands out its own mount model when you meet rated conditions similar to Legion: top 0.5% and 50 wins at rating 2400+
  2. Game iconVicious Saddle — an item that drops from the seasonal PvP track after filling it to the level where the current mount has already been earned. It is spent at vendors in Stormwind Old Town and in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength on older Vicious mounts
  3. Weekly caches — completing win quotas during the season grants random rewards, including collectible items

None of these routes will bring back specifically the Game iconFerocious Gladiator's Storm Dragon, but they will provide a current flying mount and the "Gladiator" title in the current season.

Tips

1

Check your collection before looking for ways to obtain it — the mount is account-bound and could have been earned by any of your characters back in 2017. Open the mount journal in the "Legion — PvP" section and see whether the icon of the green storm dragon labeled "Ferocious" is filled in.

2

Don't fall for boost services — no officially sold boost can grant a removed mount. If a seller promises exactly this one, it is a scam, or it means buying someone else's account, which is prohibited by Blizzard's rules.

3

Focus on the current season — if what matters to you is the storm dragon model itself in a similar armored variant, play rated The War Within PvP and earn the current season's dragon along with the "Gladiator" title.

4

Farm the dragon from Odyn — this is the most similar mount among those currently available. The Halls of Valor opens directly in the capital of Stormheim and is cleared solo by any max-level character in 10 minutes. Along the way you will collect transmog sets and dungeon achievements.

5

Value the past experience — even if the mount can no longer be obtained, owning it shows that the player truly reached the top of the Arena in Legion's fourth season. It is part of your account's history.
