Carcinized Zerethsteed

Carcinized Zerethsteed is an epic ground mount added in patch 9.2 "Eternity's End" of the Shadowlands expansion. The mount is a mechanical creature of the Progenitors in the form of a crab-like steed, crafted in the distinctive white-and-blue aesthetic of Zereth Mortis. The model combines organic and geometric elements typical of Progenitor technology.

Status: this mount is no longer available to obtain. It was tied to the "Ahead of the Curve: The Jailer" achievement, which could be earned before the release of the Dragonflight expansion in November 2022.

The mount was awarded as a reward for the quest Cyphered Flux. The acquisition chain was as follows:

1. You defeated the final boss The Jailer in the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid on Heroic or Mythic difficulty
2. The boss dropped the item Echo of the Almanac — a quest item that begins the "Cyphered Flux" quest
3. You delivered the Echo of the Almanac to the character Firim at the Sanctum of Domination in the Zereth Mortis zone
4. Firim handed you the Fractal Cypher of the Carcinized Zerethsteed as a reward

Prerequisites

Completing the quest required:

• Progressing through the Zereth Mortis story campaign at least up to the quest "Finding Firim," in order to unlock access to this character
• Defeating The Jailer on Heroic or Mythic difficulty before the release of Dragonflight
• Having a level 60 character (the Shadowlands maximum level)

• Zereth Stalker — a mount from the "Zereth Mortis Explorer" achievement, tied to exploring the zone and completing tasks
• Zereth Mortis Sentinel — a reward for the "Adventurer's Spirit: Zereth Mortis" achievement
• Caretaker's Genesis — a mount available through the Progenitor Cypher system in Zereth Mortis

These mounts share the visual aesthetic of the Progenitors and remain obtainable in the current version of the game.
