Frenzied Shredclaw
Overview

Frenzied Shredclaw is a ground mount added in the Midnight expansion (patch 12.0.0). It's a predator saturated with the energy of the Void, with jagged armor plates and pulsing veins of void energy beneath its scales. The mount is purchased from the quartermaster of the Slayer's Duellum faction for the Midnight currency, Voidlight Marl.
In-game description: "When even a single member of the pack falls, these shredclaws fly into such a rage that not even a massive ultradon can stop them."
The mount binds to your character on acquisition and is added to your account-wide mount collection.
Where to Buy the Mount
The mount is sold by the NPC Thraxadar — the quartermaster of the Slayer's Duellum faction. He is located at the Heights of the Unvanquished, in the northern part of the Voidstorm zone.
The Heights of the Unvanquished is a fortified sanctuary platform within the subzone. You can reach it directly by flying to the northern part of Voidstorm. The area is accessible to all characters who have reached Voidstorm through the Midnight story campaign.
In addition to the Frenzied Shredclaw, Thraxadar also sells a second mount — the
Prowling Shredclaw — for the same price and with the same reputation requirement.
Slayer's Duellum Faction — Building Reputation
The Slayer's Duellum is a PvP-oriented faction based in a subzone in the north of Voidstorm. Unlike the other Midnight factions (Court of Moonlight, Amani Tribe, Hara'ti, the Singularity), it uses the classic reputation system from Friendly to Exalted, without the Renown system.
The zone is governed by two domanaar lords — Vidius, Domanaar of Sorrow, and Ziadan, Domanaar of Hatred. Instead of warring against each other, they conduct combat drills, tempering their army for the confrontation with the Xal'atath.
Reputation Sources
| Source | Reputation per Instance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| World quests | ~450 | Refresh regularly, available without War Mode |
| PvP events (every 30 min) | Varies | Requires War Mode enabled |
| Capturing Void Outposts | Varies | Three outposts across the zone |
| Supply crates (War Mode) | ~300 | Appear periodically across the zone |
| Void-Touched Remains | ~100 per 50 | Collected throughout Voidstorm |
Tips for Faster Reputation Gains
War Mode significantly increases the rate of reputation gain. It unlocks additional events and bonuses. Every 30 minutes, a new PvP event begins in the Duellum, in which the Horde and Alliance compete for control of the territory. The winning side earns reputation, honor, and loot.
If PvP isn't your thing, world quests are available without War Mode — the grind will just take noticeably longer.
Once you reach Exalted, you gain access to Paragon caches: for every 10,000 reputation points beyond Exalted, you receive a Slayer's Duellum Strongbox. It can drop the rare
Duskbrute Harrower mount and the Nova companion.
Farming Voidlight Marl
Voidlight Marl is the main currency of the Midnight expansion. It's spent at the quartermasters of all four factions on housing decor, gear, mounts, and other rewards.
How to Earn Marl
Bounty hunting — the most efficient method. Speak to the NPC Astalor Bloodsworn on Slayer's Alley in Moonlight to pick up bounty contracts. Experienced players earn up to 1,800 marl per hour.
World quests — a steady source of marl across all Midnight zones: Eversong, Zul'Aman, Harandar, Voidstorm.
Delve coin exchange — in Delves, you can exchange 2,000 delve coins for a pouch containing 250 marl.
Open world — killing rare creatures, opening chests, and completing events.
Crest conversion — once you hit your weekly cap of Crests of Dawn, excess crests are automatically converted into Voidlight Marl.
Purchasing the mount requires 6,000 marl. With active bounty-hunting farming, that's roughly 3–4 hours of focused farming.
Other Mounts of the Shredclaw Family
Four shredclaw mounts with different colorations are available in Midnight:
| Mount | Source | Color |
|---|---|---|
| Frenzied Shredclaw | Thraxadar, Exalted with the Slayer's Duellum, 6,000 marl | Red |
| Prowling Shredclaw | Thraxadar, Exalted with the Slayer's Duellum, 6,000 marl | Blue |
| The Singularity faction (Renown) | Yellow | |
| The "Predaxas's Last Clutch" treasure in Voidstorm | Yellow |
Tips and Recommendations
Combine reputation grinding with marl farming. World quests and PvP events in the Duellum grant both reputation and currency at the same time.
Enable War Mode before heading into the Duellum. Without it, you'll miss the main events that grant the lion's share of reputation.
Use alts. Voidlight Marl is account-bound, so you can earn the currency across multiple characters.
Don't forget about Paragon. Even after buying both of Thraxadar's mounts, keep grinding reputation — the Duskbrute Harrower mount drops from Paragon caches.
Check the Darkmoon Faire. Previously, the faire's reputation buff applied to the Midnight factions, but this was fixed — the bonus no longer affects the Duellum.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
