Glimmering War Beacon — Transmog Set Guide
Overview
"Glimmering War Beacon" is an epic-quality two-handed mace added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.2). It is a massive head mounted on a long haft, finished in a golden-sandy palette with carved patterns in the automaton style — a nod to the architecture and aesthetics of Zereth Mortis. The model is large, with a warm glow, and reads well in sets built around a "celestial" or "mechanical" theme of the forge of the First Ones.
The item occupies the two-handed blunt weapon slot. Its stats have long been irrelevant, so today it is acquired purely for its appearance in the transmog collection. The mace is part of a weapon set sharing a single style, which lets you assemble an entire themed selection from a single source.
Source
The mace is part of the weapon set "Arsenal: Weapons of Glorious Dominion," which is granted for earning the "Dune Dominance" achievement in Zereth Mortis — the final zone of Shadowlands.
To earn the achievement, you need to defeat three special rare enemies that appear among the zone's dunes:
- "Iska the Doomrider."
- "Reanimatrox Marzan."
- "High Ravager Damaris."
After defeating all three, the achievement is credited and you receive the weapon set. All appearances from the set are immediately unlocked in the collection and become available to all characters on the account.
Access to Zereth Mortis is opened through the Shadowlands story campaign: you need to advance the expansion's main storyline to the patch 9.2 chapter and complete the zone's introductory quests. Once the portal to the zone is open, you can reach it from Oribos.
Who It Suits Visually
- Suits looks in the style of the forge of the First Ones and the automatons of Zereth Mortis: the golden-sandy tones echo the local architecture.
- Harmonizes with plate sets in warm golden and bronze shades — for example, with the sets from the final stage of Shadowlands.
- Looks great in "celestial" and "mechanical" themes thanks to the carved pattern and the warm glow of the head.
- Contrasts with dark and bloody sets, creating a bright accent for light paladin looks.
Tips
The three rare enemies appear all across Zereth Mortis, so it is convenient to work on the achievement during your regular sweep of the zone for weekly quests.
The rares have a respawn cooldown, so if someone has already been killed on the server, you will have to wait or switch realms.
All three targets are easily soloed at max level, but on crowded realms it is more convenient to join someone else's group at the spawn point.
The achievement and the weapon set are account-bound: completing it once on any character is enough.
A single achievement unlocks several weapon appearances at once, so it makes sense to grab the entire set rather than just the mace.
Before hunting, check whether access to Zereth Mortis is already open: without completing the 9.2 campaign, the zone will be inaccessible.
