Overview

Алебарда великого защитника

Game iconGlorious Defender's Poleaxe is a two-handed polearm added to World of Warcraft with The War Within expansion. It is a massive poleaxe with a broad blade and Arathi heraldry, styled after the imperial guard of the Priory of the Sacred Flame: dark metal with gold trim and Sacred Flame motifs.

The weapon is of epic quality, so the model looks expensive and suits ceremonial "knightly" looks. The poleaxe can be wielded by classes that use polearms, and once unlocked the appearance goes into your appearance collection and becomes available to all eligible characters on the account.

This is a Mythic+ season reward item, so it carries The War Within seasonal flavor. These days people pick it up not for its stats, but purely for the way it looks.

Source

The poleaxe drops in the Priory of the Sacred Flame dungeon from the first boss — Captain Dailcry. This is Mythic-difficulty loot: the item was part of the reward pool of The War Within Season 3 and is tied to clearing the dungeon at high Mythic keystone levels.

Key points about obtaining it:

  • The drop source is Captain Dailcry, the first of the dungeon's bosses, so you reach him quickly from the entrance.
  • The chance for the weapon to drop from a specific boss is low and is shared with the rest of the loot in his loot table, so it may take several runs.
  • The item becomes soulbound on pickup; it cannot be bought from the auction house — you need to farm the dungeon yourself.

Since The War Within is no longer the current expansion, the dungeon can be cleared comfortably in a small group or solo at max level for the appearance. If you were hunting this poleaxe during its season, owning it echoed the "The War Within Keystone Hero: Season Three" achievement, which is awarded for completing all of the season's dungeons on a Mythic keystone of level 10 and above within the time limit.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It complements plate sets with The War Within's Arathi and imperial theme — the dark metal with gold echoes Sacred Flame armor.
  • It looks great on paladin and warrior "holy knight" looks thanks to the Sacred Flame motifs on the blade.
  • It pairs with red-and-gold and white-and-gold heraldry; it stands out in contrast against the dark leather armor of hunters and druids.
  • It suits ceremonial, "palace" sets that call for a large and eye-catching two-handed weapon.

Tips

1

It is most convenient to farm at max Midnight level: The War Within dungeon clears quickly and with almost no resistance.

2

Run straight to the first boss — Captain Dailcry stands at the start of the dungeon, and for a single appearance you don't have to clear all the way to the end.

3

You can reset and re-enter the dungeon many times in a row, so it's realistic to make several attempts in one evening.

4

Enter on Normal or Mythic difficulty — the difficulty level doesn't matter for the appearance, what matters is the weapon model itself.

5

While you're at it, pick up the rest of the Sacred Flame loot from the other bosses: the dungeon's armor and weapons come together into a single imperial look.

6

The item is soulbound on pickup, so checking the auction house is pointless — count only on farming the dungeon yourself.
