Grand Wyvern
Overview

The
Grand Wyvern is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 5.1 of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The mount is a reward for completing the final quest of the Dominance Offensive faction story campaign — Breath of Darkest Shadow. Along with the mount, you also earn the Dominance Offensive Campaign achievement.
The Grand Wyvern is a massive winged creature with armored hide and powerful claws. The mount is available only to Horde faction characters. The Alliance equivalent is the Grand Gryphon, awarded for a comparable campaign of the Operation: Shieldwall faction.
Why you want this mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is awarded for completing a quest chain and achievement. There is no element of chance: finish the campaign to the end, and the wyvern is yours
- Engaging story — the Dominance Offensive campaign covers the key events of Mists of Pandaria: the Horde–Alliance conflict in Pandaria, the story of the Divine Bell, the purge of Dalaran, and the ambitions of Garrosh Hellscream
- Unique model — a large armored wyvern with detailed texturing that stands out among standard flying mounts
- Ground and flying — works both on the ground and in the air. Speed depends on your riding skill
- Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on all characters on the account
How to get it
To obtain the mount, you must complete the full story campaign of the Dominance Offensive faction (12 chapters) and finish the final quest Breath of Darkest Shadow. The campaign is tied to reputation: new chapters unlock as you raise your reputation level with the faction.
- Head to Pandaria. If your character is below level 50, activate the Mists of Pandaria timeline through Chromie in your faction's capital
- Reach the Shrine of Two Moons in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. From Sunwalker Dezco, pick up the starting quest Meet the Scout
- Complete the introductory quest chain (3 quests), which concludes with the founding of the Domination Point garrison in the western part of the Krasarang Wilds
- Complete daily quests in the Krasarang Wilds to raise your reputation with the Dominance Offensive
- As your reputation grows from Friendly to Exalted, new story chapters will unlock for you (12 chapters in total). Each new chapter is given by General Nazgrim at Domination Point
- The final chapter, "Breath of Darkest Shadow," unlocks upon reaching Exalted reputation. The quest is given by Malkorok and turned in to Garrosh Hellscream
- After completing the final quest, you automatically receive the Grand Wyvern and the Dominance Offensive Campaign achievement
Dominance Offensive story campaign
The campaign consists of 12 story chapters that unlock at specific reputation levels. Each chapter contains a series of quests advancing the story of the Horde's conflict in Pandaria.

|---|---|

A new chapter becomes available the day after you reach the required reputation threshold. If you earn enough reputation for several chapters at once, they still unlock one per day.
Grinding reputation with the Dominance Offensive
The total amount of reputation from Neutral to Exalted is 42,000 points. The main source is daily quests.
Daily quests
Each day in the Krasarang Wilds a set of daily quests is available, the completion of which grants approximately 900-1,000 reputation points. The quests are given at Domination Point and send you to various locations in the Krasarang Wilds.
Story chapters
Each story chapter grants additional reputation upon completion. In total, all 12 chapters provide a significant bonus.
Reputation boosters
- Grand Commendation of the Dominance Offensive — upon reaching Revered, you can purchase the Grand Commendation of the Dominance Offensive from Tuskripper Grukna for 50 gold. It doubles the reputation earned (+100%) for all characters on the account
- Darkmoon Faire — the "WHEE!" buff from the carousel increases reputation earned by 10% for 60 minutes
- Bonus world quest event — if the corresponding event is active, the bonus also applies to daily quests in Pandaria
- Banner of Cooperation — a guild bonus of +10% to reputation
Farm work orders
At your farm in Halfhill (unlocked through a quest chain in the Valley of the Four Winds), you can place a Dominance Offensive work order. This grants additional reputation daily without the need to complete quests.
How to reach the Krasarang Wilds
For characters level 50+
- Use the portal in your faction's capital (Orgrimmar) → the Jade Forest or the Vale of Eternal Blossoms
- From the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, fly southwest into the Krasarang Wilds
- Domination Point is located on the western coast of the Krasarang Wilds
For characters below level 50
- Find Chromie in your faction's capital (by the embassy in Orgrimmar)
- Activate the Mists of Pandaria timeline
- Follow the Pandaria starting quests, which will bring you to the continent
- Reach the Shrine of Two Moons and pick up the starting quest of the Dominance Offensive

Farming optimization
Daily plan
At max level (90 in Midnight), enemies in the Krasarang Wilds pose no threat. All content is completed instantly.
- Fly to Domination Point via the flight path
- Pick up all available daily quests
- Complete the quests — at level 90 this takes 10-15 minutes
- Check whether a new story chapter has unlocked at General Nazgrim
- If a story chapter is available — complete it first (bonus reputation)
- Place a work order at the farm (if unlocked)
How long it will take
With daily completion of all quests, grinding from Neutral to Exalted takes approximately 3-4 weeks. With the Grand Commendation of the Dominance Offensive (available at Revered), the time is reduced: from Revered to Exalted with doubled reputation, you will get there in about 10-12 days instead of 20+.
Farming on alts
You only need to grind Dominance Offensive reputation on a single character. After reaching Revered on your first character, buy the Grand Commendation of the Dominance Offensive — it will speed up the grind for all characters on the account. Once obtained, the mount is available on all characters.
Additional Dominance Offensive rewards
In addition to the Grand Wyvern, the faction offers other rewards from the quartermaster Tuskripper Grukna:
| Reward | Reputation | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Exalted | 2,000 gold | |
| Grand Commendation of the Dominance Offensive | Revered | 50 gold |
| Gear (rings, boots, belts) | Honored — Exalted | 10-30 gold |
Note: the
Grand Armored Wyvern is a separate mount purchased with gold at Exalted reputation. It is an armored version with additional armor elements.
Tips
1
Don't skip the daily quests — this is the main and only steady source of reputation. Every day skipped is a day without progress
2
Keep an eye on the story chapters — after reaching a reputation threshold, a new chapter unlocks the next day. Check General Nazgrim every day
3
Buy the commendation as early as possible — at Revered, it's the first purchase from the quartermaster. Doubling reputation will cut your remaining path in half
4
Use the farm — a work order at the farm grants passive reputation. If the farm isn't unlocked yet, complete the Tilling quest chain in the Valley of the Four Winds
5
Combine with the Darkmoon Faire — the "WHEE!" buff lasts 60 minutes. Visit the carousel before doing your daily quests for an extra 10% reputation
6
Mount for the Horde only — if you play Alliance, a comparable campaign and mount (the Grand Gryphon) are available through the Operation: Shieldwall faction
7
Two mounts for one grind — by completing the campaign, you receive the Grand Wyvern. On top of that, you can buy the Grand Armored Wyvern from the quartermaster for 2,000 gold — two mounts for your collection from a single faction

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
