Gravestone Battle Armor
Overview

Gravestone Battle Armor is a Venthyr covenant ground gargon mount added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.1). The item itself is a harness that teaches your character to summon the
Gravestone Battle Gargon — a powerful battle gargon clad in heavy stone armor, ready to escort the venthyr into the final battles against the Jailer.
In lore, this is a representative of a new line of loyal gargons that Prince Renathal selected for his most trusted allies. The armor is forged from the gravestone of Revendreth — the same material used for sarcophagi and catacombs — so the mount visually blends with the architecture of the covenant capital, Sinfall.
The mount is granted automatically upon reaching Renown 39 with the Venthyr covenant. You do not need to complete any additional quests, bosses, or trials — it is enough to raise your Renown to the required threshold on a venthyr character.
Why you want this mount
- A guaranteed reward without farming — unlike rare drops from bosses, the mount arrives by mail or is added to your collection the moment your Renown increases. There is no random roll, and the chance of obtaining it is 100%
- Unique stone gargon armor — the
Gravestone Battle Gargon has massive stone plates on its shoulders, neck, and back. No other Revendreth gargon wears exactly this set - The Venthyr gargon collection — together with the
Crypt Gargon,
Battle Gargon Vrednic,
Sinfall Gargon, and
Silessa's Battle Harness, it forms a gargon family prized by collectors of Revendreth theming - Account-wide access at Renown 80 — once you raise your Renown to maximum, the mount can be used on any character in your account, even one belonging to a different covenant. This is the key reason to push the Venthyr all the way up after getting the main mount
- Zone restriction lifted — gargons were originally summonable only in the Shadowlands, but in the current patch that restriction has been removed. The mount works in any location where ground mounts are allowed
How to obtain
The main path is raising the Venthyr covenant's Renown to level 39. The process is entirely solo, but it takes time and requires completing repeatable activities.
- Open the Shadowlands and complete the introductory Shadowlands story campaign. To begin, it is enough to finish the quests of all four zones and choose a covenant
- Fly to Revendreth and, in the capital Sinfall, join the Venthyr covenant. If you already belong to another covenant, switch through the covenant menu
- Complete the story chapters of the Venthyr campaign in the order they unlock. Each chapter automatically raises Renown by 1–2 levels
- Take part in the weekly Assaults in Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth — they grant anima shards, reputation, and Renown progress
- Collect soul mementos and develop the Ember Court — a unique Venthyr activity with its own reward system
- Upon reaching Renown 39, the
Gravestone Battle Armor will automatically appear in your bag or directly in your mount collection. Open the journal (Shift+P) and check the "Ground — Shadowlands" section
What to do if the mount is lost
If you accidentally deleted the
Gravestone Battle Armor before using it, a replacement can be bought from the vendor Chachi the Artiste in Sinfall. She is a venthyr merchant who sells all Venthyr covenant mounts and items after certain Renown conditions are met.
| Replacement parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Vendor | Chachi the Artiste |
| Location | Sinfall, Revendreth |
| Cost | 50 Grateful Offerings + 100 anima from the reservoir |
| Requirement | Renown 39 (should already be reached) |
Until the item is used, the mount does not appear in your collection, so losing the harness is more common than with most covenant rewards. We recommend using the item immediately after receiving it.
Raising the Venthyr covenant's Renown
Renown is an analog of reputation, but with a hard weekly cap on levels. In the current patch 11.1 the cap is removed, but historically it set the pace of progression. Below are the main sources of Renown gain.
| Source | Renown gain | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Chapters of the Venthyr story campaign | +1–2 levels | As you progress |
| Covenant Assaults | +1–2 levels | Weekly |
| Ember Court | +1 level | Once every 2 weeks |
| Treasures and soul mementos | Variable | As you progress through zones |
| Shadowlands Timewalking | +1 level | Event once every 18 weeks |
The average pace is 2–3 Renown levels per week with full completion of all activities. From level 1 to 39 you will get there in 12–15 weeks from scratch, or in 2–3 weeks if you already have accumulated reputation and a completed campaign.
Tips and tricks
- Don't switch covenants just to experiment — every switch resets the progress of story chapters and forces you to redo the chains again. Renown is preserved in the current patch, but you will still have to redo the necessary quests on the new covenant
- Use the item right away — the
Gravestone Battle Armor binds on pickup and appears in your collection only after you click it. Before that, it is easy to accidentally sell it to a vendor - Don't abandon the Venthyr after the mount — the next Renown levels unlock
Battle Gargon Vrednic and other rewards. And Renown 80 lifts the restriction on all Venthyr mounts for the rest of your account's characters - Develop the Ember Court in parallel — this activity grants both Renown and unique collectibles, including Revendreth pets and toys
- Use the Sinfall Hearthstone — it is given during the Venthyr story and teleports you straight to Chachi the Artiste and the Campaign Overseer. It saves minutes on flying
- Don't waste the Grateful Offering — it is the main currency for buying covenant rewards from Chachi. Save them in case you need to re-buy a lost mount or other items
- Don't buy boosting services from third-party providers — manually raising Renown from scratch to 39 by a real player takes 2–3 weeks and requires access to your account. This violates Blizzard's rules and risks a ban
- Check your mount journal after every Renown update — if the automatic delivery fails (a rare bug), the item can be picked up from Chachi the Artiste or through a Blizzard support ticket

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
