Great Blue Dragon Turtle

The Great Blue Dragon Turtle is an epic Pandaren ground mount that takes the form of a large brown dragon turtle. The mount was added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion (patch 5.0.4) and has since remained one of the most recognizable symbols of Pandaren culture in the game.

The mount is sold for ordinary gold by two vendors in the capitals — Old Whitenose in Stormwind and Turtlemaster Odai in Orgrimmar. Any Pandaren character can purchase it right away, regardless of faction and reputation. Members of other races will need Exalted reputation with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or the Huojin Pandaren (Horde).

• A unique model of a large dragon turtle — unlike the smaller version, the Blue Dragon Turtle, the bigger model is larger and looks more imposing.
• Counts toward your mount collection — +1 point toward the achievements for the number of mounts collected.
• Available to Pandaren characters with no reputation requirements, making it an easy acquisition on a Pandaren alt.
• It costs just 10 gold — one of the cheapest epic mounts in the game, if you already have the reputation.

To purchase the mount you need to meet a few conditions:

• Character level: at least 10 (a formal requirement nowadays)
• Riding skill: Apprentice Riding — basic skill is enough
• Race or reputation — one of the two:
  • Play as the Pandaren race (any faction)
  • Reach Exalted with the Tushui faction — for the Alliance
  • Reach Exalted with the Huojin faction — for the Horde
• Gold: 10 gold

Reputation with the Pandaren factions is earned through daily quests in the capitals, completing Pandaria story quests, and wearing the appropriate tabard in dungeons.

The mount is sold by two vendors — one in each of the main factions' capitals. Note: the Alliance and the Horde only have access to their own vendor, but with the appropriate reputation their goods are identical.

Alliance — Stormwind

Vendor: Old Whitenose. Located in the Pandaren camp by the Eastern Earthshrine, in the northern part of Stormwind, next to the Mage Quarter and the Canals.

Horde — Orgrimmar

Vendor: Turtlemaster Odai. Located in the Pandaren camp in the center of Orgrimmar's Valley of Honor, next to the pond and the training ground.

The Tushui and Huojin Pandaren are among the easiest reputations in the game to farm at max level.

Method 1. Faction Tabard and Dungeons

The main and recommended method. From your faction's agitator in the Pandaren camp you receive a tabard:

• Alliance — Tushui Tabard from Disciple Jusi
• Horde — Huojin Tabard from Adherent Hanjun

In any dungeon, from classic ones to modern ones, all reputation earned while wearing the tabard goes to the chosen Pandaren faction. At max level 90 old dungeons can be cleared in a couple of minutes, so a few runs through the Dungeon Finder will close out the reputation in one or two evenings.

Method 2. Pandaren from Scratch

If you are creating a new Pandaren character, keep in mind: on the starting zone of the Wandering Isle you have not yet chosen a faction, but after picking a side you immediately gain access to all racial mounts with no reputation requirement. This is the fastest way to close out the collection for collectors.

• The fastest way to get it is on a Pandaren — a character of this race can access the mount right after gaining the Apprentice riding skill and having 10 gold in their pocket, with no reputation at all.
• One of six color variants — the Pandaren vendors also sell the red, green, black, brown, and purple versions of the "great" dragon turtles. If you are grinding reputation, it makes sense to grab the whole set at once — that's +6 mounts for your collection.
• Don't confuse it with the smaller version — the Reins of the Blue Dragon Turtle are sold separately and have a smaller model. You need both for a complete collection.
