Great Brewfest Kodo

Great Brewfest Kodo is an epic ground mount available during the annual in-game event Brewfest. It's a massive kodo in orange festive armor with the festival's emblem and kegs in place of war drums.

The mount drops from the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest — the daily reward for the first kill of the boss Coren Direbrew in Blackrock Depths via the dungeon finder. The event runs annually, usually from September 20 to October 6.

• Available to both factions — even though the kodo is traditionally associated with the Horde, Alliance characters can obtain the mount too
• Account-wide — once obtained, the mount unlocks for all your characters
• Achievement — obtaining the mount counts toward the mount collector achievement
• Second mount included — alongside the kodo, the same chest can also drop the Swift Brewfest Ram, letting you close out both festive mounts at once

1. Wait for Brewfest to begin. The event takes place annually in late September — early October and lasts about two to three weeks
2. Open the "Dungeon Finder" tool (default hotkey "I") and switch to the holiday bosses tab. Select Coren Direbrew
3. The system will automatically form a group and teleport you to Blackrock Depths, right at the Grim Guzzler tavern
4. Defeat Coren Direbrew. At max level (90 in Midnight) the fight takes a few seconds
5. After winning you'll receive the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest — it will appear in your bags or be mailed to you
6. Open the chest — with about a 3% chance, the Great Brewfest Kodo will be inside

The chest with a chance at the mount is only awarded for the first kill of Coren Direbrew each day. Repeat kills on the same day give ordinary loot (tokens and gear) but without a chance at the mount.

Each of your characters level 60 and above can receive their own Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest once per day. This means the more eligible-level characters you have, the more attempts you get daily.

Since the 2025 update, a bad-luck protection system is in effect: with each unsuccessful chest opening, the chance to get the mount increases slightly. Blizzard hasn't revealed the exact numbers, but the mechanic has been confirmed by the developers.

Daily Cycle

Brewfest lasts about 16-18 days. During that time a single character can make 16-18 attempts. At about a 3% chance, the probability of getting the mount over the whole period on one character is roughly 40-42%. To boost your odds, bring in additional characters.

Farming on Multiple Characters

• Prepare several characters of level 60 and above in advance
• Log into each one daily, use the "Dungeon Finder" and kill Coren Direbrew
• The fight lasts a few seconds; including the time to form a group and teleport, the whole process takes 2-3 minutes per character
• With 5 characters you'll make about 80-90 attempts over the festival, giving over a 90% total probability of getting the mount
