Get Great Red Dragon Turtle mount

Great Red Dragon Turtle is an epic ground mount added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion (patch 5.0.4). The mount is a massive red dragon turtle with a luxurious harness and two lantern-lights mounted on its shell. It is one of the largest and most impressive ground mounts in the line of Pandaren dragon turtles.

The mount is sold for ordinary gold by two vendors in the capitals — Old Whitenose in Stormwind and Turtlemaster Odai in Orgrimmar. Any Pandaren character can buy it immediately, regardless of faction and reputation. Members of other races will need to be Exalted with the Tushui Pandaren (Alliance) or the Huojin Pandaren (Horde).

• Guaranteed acquisition — no percentage drop chances. As soon as you reach Exalted with the right Pandaren faction and save up the gold, the mount is guaranteed to be yours.
• Unique model — the "great" versions of dragon turtles are noticeably larger than the regular variants and feature an extended harness with lanterns. The red coloring is one of the brightest in the set.
• Comes bundled with other mounts — by grinding the reputation once, you unlock access to six regular and six "great" dragon turtles in various colors from the same vendor at once. You can buy the whole set and make significant progress toward the achievement.
• Suitable for Pandaren without reputation — if your main character is a Pandaren, you can buy the mount right after learning the required riding skill, even with neutral reputation.
• Available account-wide — after using the item, the mount unlocks on all characters on the account.

To purchase the mount, you need to meet several conditions:

• Character level: minimum 10 (a formal requirement nowadays)
• Riding skill: Apprentice Riding — the basic skill is enough
• Race or reputation — one of the two:
  • Play as a Pandaren race (any faction)
  • Reach Exalted with the Tushui faction — for the Alliance
  • Reach Exalted with the Huojin faction — for the Horde
• Gold: 10 gold

Reputation with the Pandaren factions is earned through daily quests in the capitals, completing Pandaria story quests, and wearing the appropriate tabard in dungeons.

The mount is sold by two vendors — one in each of the main faction capitals. Note: the Alliance and the Horde only have access to their own vendor, however with the appropriate reputation their goods are identical.

Alliance — Stormwind

Vendor: Old Whitenose. Located in the Pandaren camp by the Eastern Earthshrine, in the northern part of Stormwind, near the Mage Quarter and the Canals.

Horde — Orgrimmar

Vendor: Turtlemaster Odai. Located in the Pandaren camp in the center of the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar, near the pond and the training ground.

The Tushui and Huojin Pandaren are some of the easiest reputations in the game to farm at max level.

Method 1. Faction tabard and dungeons

The main and recommended method. From your faction's agitator in the Pandaren camp you receive a tabard:

• Alliance — Tushui Tabard from Disciple Jusi
• Horde — Huojin Tabard from Adept Hanjun

In any dungeon, from classic to modern, all reputation gained with the tabard goes to your chosen Pandaren faction. At max level 90 old dungeons can be cleared in a couple of minutes, so a few runs through the Dungeon Finder will close out the reputation in one or two evenings.

Method 2. Pandaren from scratch

If you create a new Pandaren character, keep in mind: on the starting zone of the Wandering Isle you have not yet chosen a faction, but after picking a side you immediately gain access to all racial mounts without a reputation requirement. This is the fastest way for collectors to close out the collection.
