Overview

Great Red Elekk

Game iconGreat Red Elekk is an epic Alliance ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.2). It is a large armored elekk model with a rich red hide and a battle caparison — a coloration unique among all elekks in the game.

The mount is sold by Irisee, the Exodar quartermaster, at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown. To purchase it you must be a Champion of the Exodar — a title earned after completing the chain of daily quests at the tournament. The cost is 500 gold and 5 Champion's Seals (400 gold at Exalted reputation with the Exodar).

Why you want this mount

  • Unique red coloration — among all elekks in the game, only this one has a rich red color. Standard racial elekks come in brown, gray, purple, blue and green — but never red. The red model is available exclusively through the Argent Tournament
  • Low price — just 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold.
  • Collection boost — the mount counts toward collection achievements
  • Account-wide — once purchased, the mount unlocks for all Alliance characters on your account, regardless of race and class

How to get the mount

The full path from zero tournament progress to having the mount in your collection takes about 8–10 days of daily quests. If you are already a Champion of the Exodar, skip straight to step 6.

  1. Travel to the Argent Tournament Grounds in the northeastern part of Icecrown. The fastest route is to fly from Dalaran in Northrend
  2. Speak with Justicar Mariel Trueheart, who will direct you to your race's representative. For the Exodar this is the draenei recruiter in the tent of the Silver Covenant
  3. Complete the Aspirant stage — finish the training quests on mounted lance combat and gather 15 Aspirant's Seals. This takes 2–3 days of daily quests
  4. Complete the Valiant stage — take the quest to represent the Exodar and gather 25 Valiant's Seals from daily quests. At least 5 days, since only 5 seals are available per day
  5. Finish the final trial — defeat the faction champion in mounted combat. After the victory you earn the Champion of the Exodar title and the Champion of the Exodar achievement
  6. Find Irisee, the Exodar quartermaster. She stands in the tent of the Silver Covenant on the northeastern side of the tournament grounds
  7. Open the trade window and buy the Game iconGreat Red Elekk for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold
  8. Use the item — the mount will appear in your collection permanently

How to earn Champion's Seals

Champion's Seals are the main currency of the Argent Tournament. Buying the Great Red Elekk requires only 5 of them, so even a single day of daily quests will earn you the needed amount with room to spare.

Main sources of seals:

  • Champion daily quests — once you earn the Champion title, quests open up, each granting 1–2 seals. In total you can earn 10–14 seals per day from quests alone
  • Heroic dungeon Trial of the Champion — clearing Trial of the Champion on heroic difficulty grants additional seals
  • Champion's Purse — a reward from some daily quests, contains 1 guaranteed seal

At max level (90 in Midnight) the daily quests on the tournament grounds are completed in 15–20 minutes. One run is enough for 5 seals.

How to get Exalted with the Exodar

If your character is not a draenei, purchasing the mount requires Exalted reputation with the Exodar faction. At max level this can be done in one or two evenings.

  • Exodar Tabard — buy the Game iconExodar Tabard from the quartermaster Kadu in the Exodar for 10 silver. Equip it and run classic dungeons — the reputation from kills will count toward the Exodar
  • Quests on Azuremyst Isle — Azuremyst Isle and Bloodmyst Isle contain dozens of quests rewarding Exodar reputation
  • Tournament daily quests — by representing the Exodar at the tournament, you simultaneously gain reputation with this faction. Two birds with one stone
  • Draenei alt — a draenei character buys the mount without Exalted, and after the purchase the elekk appears for all characters on the account

Tips

1

Create a draenei if you lack Exalted — draenei do not need Exodar reputation to buy. If you have a draenei alt with access to the tournament, buy the mount on it and save time farming reputation

2

Combine goals — while you work toward the Champion of the Exodar title, you simultaneously accumulate Champion's Seals. By the time you earn the title you will almost certainly have more than 5 seals, and you can buy the mount right away

3

The tournament works in Midnight too — all Argent Tournament content is fully functional. Daily quests, vendors and achievements are available without restrictions

4

At level 90 the quests are trivial — Icecrown mobs pose no threat, and mounted combats are over in a minute. The only limitation is time: you have to wait for the daily quest reset

5

Check other factions — every Alliance race at the tournament has its own quartermaster with unique mounts. If you are a collector, it makes sense to become a Crusader and unlock access to all the vendors
