Overview

Greatsword of Cruelty is a cosmetic two-handed sword appearance added to World of Warcraft in the Battle for Azeroth expansion (patch 8.3.0). It is not a combat weapon but a separate illusion item: when used, it adds the appearance to your warband's transmogrification collection. The blade has a broad, serrated edge of dark metal on a massive hilt, and its model echoes the silhouette of the two-handed swords found in Cataclysm-era dungeons.

The item is item level 1, it binds to your warband, and it requires character level 50. It has no combat value — it exists purely for its appearance.

The appearance is obtained in Uldum during the Assault of the Old Gods — the seasonal Battle for Azeroth content (patch 8.3.0).

The item drops from rare assault enemies in Uldum; among the known sources is High Priest Ytaessis.
The drop chance is very low — a fraction of a percent — so be ready for a long farm.
Once obtained, the item must be used to add the appearance to your warband collection; duplicate copies are not needed.
The Uldum assault runs on a schedule and alternates with another region, so you can only farm the local rares while the assault is active.
