Get Green Mechanostrider mount
Overview

Green Mechanostrider is the classic Gnome racial ground mount that has been around since the original World of Warcraft. It is a mechanical bipedal strider in a rich swamp-green color scheme, built by the engineers of Gnomeregan. Visually the mount looks like a compact walking mechanism with spinning pistons and forged supports — one of the most recognizable symbols of the Gnomish engineering school.
The mount is still on sale from vendor Milli Featherwhistle in Dun Morogh. The price is just 1 gold with the riding discount applied. Gnomes and Mechagnomes can buy it without restrictions, while other Alliance races can do so after reaching Exalted with the Gnomeregan faction.
Why you want this mount
- Mount collector points — the mount counts toward achievements for the number of mounts collected. Each new mount in your collection brings you closer to rewards in the form of other mounts and titles
- Gnome racial flavor — if you play a Gnome or Mechagnome, the mechanostrider is part of your race's cultural identity, the classic transport of Gnomeregan
- One of four base color variants — together with the
Red Mechanostrider,
Blue Mechanostrider and
Unpainted Mechanostrider it forms the complete set of regular mechanical striders, which you can finish off in a single visit to the vendor - Account-wide access — after purchase the mount automatically appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters, including alts of other races
- Ground mount speed — the mechanostrider moves +60% or +100% faster than normal walking, depending on your riding skill level. This is a full-fledged ground transport, not a cosmetic item
- Minimal investment — the price of 1 gold makes this mount one of the cheapest additions to your collection in the game

How to raise reputation with Gnomeregan
For non-Gnomes this is the longest stage. You can speed it up in several ways, and they are worth combining.
Gnomeregan Tabard
The main method is farming dungeons with the
Gnomeregan Tabard. The tabard is sold by the faction quartermaster Senior Mechanic Steamrigger in Ironforge, in the Great Forge.
Wearing the tabard, you gain reputation with Gnomeregan for killing enemies in dungeons. The best options for fast farming at level 90 are low-level classic WoW dungeons that can be cleared solo in a few minutes:
Quests in Dun Morogh and other zones
Most quests in the Gnome and Dwarf starting zone grant reputation with the Gnomeregan faction. At level 90 you can quickly run through the quest chains of Dun Morogh, Thousand Needles, Stonetalon Mountains and Tanaris — all of them contain quests rewarding Gnomeregan reputation.
Turning in cloth
In Ironforge there is an Alliance cloth quartermaster who accepts bundles of cloth in exchange for reputation with the capital factions. Turning in Wool, Silk, Mageweave and other types of cloth gives a noticeable reputation boost. The method is expensive if you buy cloth on the auction house, but it works great for the last few thousand points to Exalted.
Reputation optimization tips
- Combine the tabard with quests: first finish all Dun Morogh quests, then top off your reputation with dungeon farm runs
- At level 90 solo runs through old dungeons take 3–5 minutes. In an hour you can realistically earn several thousand reputation points
- Remember that the tabard only works in dungeons, but not in open zones and not in raids
Other mechanostriders from Milli Featherwhistle
On a single visit to the vendor it makes sense to check the whole assortment. If your goal is a mount collection, finish off all the regular color variants at once.

Journeyman Riding and therefore character level 20.
Tips
Buy the whole set at once — if you are already at Milli Featherwhistle, finish off all four regular mechanostriders in one trip. That's four separate mounts in your collection with minimal effort to obtain them
Don't confuse Steelgrill's Depot with Kharanos — the vendor stands precisely in the Depot, east of Kharanos. Kharanos itself only has the riding trainer and a tavern
Gnomes save dozens of hours of reputation farming — if you are a mount collector, create a Gnome or Mechagnome and buy all four mechanostriders in a single visit. For a main character of another race this still unlocks the mounts account-wide
Use the tabard only in dungeons — this is the most common mistake among players trying to raise reputation. In the open world the tabard gives no gain at all
