Get Green Qiraji Battle Tank mount
Overview

Green Qiraji Battle Tank is a rare silithid mount from the classic raid Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40), located in southwestern Silithus. The item emits a high-frequency sound that forces a silithid tank to crawl out of its burrow beneath the temple, after which the player can ride one of the most unusual mounts in the game.
There are four color variations of the Qiraji resonating crystals in total: blue, red, green, and yellow. Green is one of the three "common" colors; its drop chance is higher than that of the red variation, which is considered significantly rarer and is rewarded with a separate achievement.
Why you want this mount
- Unique silithid model — this is one of the few silithid-bug mounts, and the only group of such ridable creatures
- A boost to your collection — the mount counts toward the overall tally for collection achievements
- Useful inside the raid — the 100% speed boost significantly speeds up travel through the long corridors of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj between bosses and trash packs
- A rare item with history — the crystal belongs to original Classic content and is a reminder of the opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj, one of the most significant events in WoW's early history
- A full set of four colors — collectors often farm all four variations to assemble the complete line of Qiraji battle tanks
How to obtain
The item drops from trash mobs in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. No quests, reputation, or prerequisites are required other than entering the raid.
- Create a raid group (even if you go in solo at max level — entry to the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj is only possible from a raid group)
- Fly to Silithus and head to the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj in the southwest of the zone
- Enter the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj — the entrance is deep within the ruins
- Begin clearing the trash packs near the entrance and in the first corridors — this is exactly where the mobs that drop the crystal reside
- Kill groups of Qiraji warriors, slayers, anubisaths, and obsidian destroyers, checking your loot after each kill
- If the crystal does not drop, leave the raid and reset the instance through the difficulty menu (right-click on your portrait — "Reset all instances")
- Repeat the run until you obtain the
Green Qiraji Resonating Crystal - Use the item — it is consumed and teaches the mount summoning ability
List of mobs and drop chances
The Green Qiraji Resonating Crystal drops from a wide list of elite trash mobs. All chances listed below are based on Wowhead community data and may vary slightly depending on the client version.
Mob | Approximate drop chance |
|---|---|
| Qiraji Slayer | ~20% |
| Qiraji Mindslayer | ~19% |
| Anubisath Defender | ~19% |
| Qiraji Warrior | ~19% |
| Qiraji Brainwasher | ~18% |
| Anubisath Sentinel | ~18% |
| Qiraji Lasher | ~18% |
| Anubisath Guardian | ~18% |
| Obsidian Destroyer | ~17% |
| Obsidian Eradicator | ~15% |
Practically every elite mob in the first part of the dungeon has a drop chance of about 15–20%, but this is an individual chance on a single mob per single kill, so the total path to the crystal can be either very quick or drawn out.
Mount usage restrictions
The mount imposes several important restrictions to keep in mind before farming and using it.
- Only inside the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj — outside the instance, the summoning ability is blocked. In Silithus, Ahn'Qiraj, or any other zone, the mount does not work
- Dismounting in combat — any hostile action toward the rider forcibly makes the tank burrow underground. This means that in trash groups you will frequently lose the mount
- Does not work in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj — despite the similar name, the small raid does not support the Qiraji battle tanks.
- Bind on pickup — the item cannot be handed to another player, traded, or put up on the auction house. The crystal must be found yourself
- Unique item — only one copy can be in your bags at a time. After use, the item is consumed and the mount becomes available permanently
- Does not work on flight paths — this is a ground mount within the dungeon; it does not replace flying mounts and grants no additional abilities
Farm optimization
A single max-level player
At current game levels, the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj can be completed solo in a few minutes. The optimal farming scheme looks like this:
- Enter the raid and clear the first wave of trash after the entrance — anubisath and Qiraji warrior packs come right away
- Check your loot after each group
- If the crystal does not drop, leave the raid and reset all instances through the difficulty menu
- Repeat the run
Remember Blizzard's limit: an account cannot reset more than 10 instances per hour and 30 per day. This allowance lets you make several runs in a row, but for long-term farming it makes sense to spread attempts across different days.
A group at current level
If you go with friends, a single character of level 90+ is enough to safely clear the trash in a minute. Loot from elite trash mobs is distributed individually, so each raid member gets their own chance at the drop.
Collecting all four colors
With each raid reset you have a chance to get any of the four crystal variations. If your goal is to assemble the full set, keep farming after obtaining the green one: the
Blue Qiraji Resonating Crystal,
Red Qiraji Resonating Crystal, and
Yellow Qiraji Resonating Crystal drop from the same mobs.
Tips
Always create a raid group before entering — the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj is only available in raid mode, even if you go in alone. If you forget to switch, you will run into a closed door
Reset the dungeon correctly — leave the instance, right-click on your character portrait, and select "Reset all instances". If you are inside, a reset is impossible
Watch the 10/hour and 30/day limit — if exceeded, the system will refuse the reset. Plan your farming sessions so you don't waste attempts in vain
Clear loot manually — elite trash mobs drop quickly, and sometimes the crystal gets lost in the general loot list. Open the loot window fully each time
Use the mount inside the raid — after obtaining the crystal, summon the mount right at the entrance to the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. This is the only place it can be used, and it is part of the "ownership experience" of such a collectible model
Combine with hunting for the red variation — the
Red Qiraji Resonating Crystal is considerably rarer than the green and grants a separate achievement mark. If you are already farming, it makes sense to continue runs until you get the red version
