Get Grim Scythe

Grim Scythe is a two-handed polearm of uncommon quality. Despite belonging to the polearm class, the model is designed exactly like a scythe: a long shaft topped with a broad, curved blade mounted at an angle. The silhouette comes out grim and predatory, evoking the image of a reaper.

The item dates back to The Burning Crusade — it drops within the walls of the legendary tower of Karazhan. The weapon itself is weak in terms of stats (item level 14), so today it is valuable purely as an appearance: a scythe in the role of a polearm is a rare sight, and there aren't many classic "reaper" models in the game.

It suits classes able to wield polearms — warriors, paladins, death knights, demon hunters, and druids.

The Grim Scythe drops from the spectral servants in the lower halls of Karazhan — a raid from The Burning Crusade expansion, located in the Karazhan zone in Deadwind Pass (Eastern Kingdoms).

• The main source is the Spectral Stable Hand, an undead from the tower's service areas near the stables and the underground well.
• It is an ordinary trash mob, not a boss, so there is no limit on the number of attempts — you can farm as much as you like.
• The drop chance is low, and it usually takes several runs.

How to get into Karazhan today:

• The attunement was removed long ago — you can enter directly, without completing a quest chain.
• The entrance is at the foot of the tower in Deadwind Pass, southwest of Duskwood. The most convenient way to get there is via a portal to your capital and then along the road, or by warlock or mage teleport.

The raid can be cleared solo at max level with no trouble: just go in, make your way to the lower service areas, and farm the spectral servants until the scythe drops.

• It harmonizes with dark sets in the undead and necromancy style — the gray blade looks great against black and purple armor.
• It fits "death reaper" looks for a death knight: the scythe reinforces the theme of harvesting souls.
• It contrasts with a paladin's bright plate — a debatable but striking choice for a "punishing reaper" concept.
• It complements light cloth and leather sets in dark shades if you're building a sinister reaper look on a druid or demon hunter.
