Gruesome Flayedwing

Gruesome Flayedwing is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.0.2 of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a flayedwing from Maldraxxus — a sinister winged creature with flayed membranes, bred for swift flights across the expanses of the Shadowlands. The flayedwings of Maldraxxus are prized for their ability to soar effortlessly through the skies, giving the rider the chance to strike a sudden blow or support allies.

The mount is unique in that it can be obtained through the feature of any one of the four Shadowlands covenants. The acquisition method depends on the covenant you choose: with the Kyrian and the Necrolords the mount is purchased from a vendor for anima, while with the Night Fae and the Venthyr it drops from reward containers.

• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, adapting its animation to the type of movement
• Available through any covenant — you do not need to belong to a specific covenant. Each of the four covenants offers its own path to the mount
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount becomes available on every character on your account
• No luck required (Kyrian/Necrolords) — with two covenants the mount is guaranteed to be purchased from a vendor, sparing you the need to rely on a random drop

The Gruesome Flayedwing can be obtained through the feature of any one of the four Shadowlands covenants. Each method is described below.

Method 1: Kyrian — Path of Ascension

1. Join the Kyrian covenant and unlock the Path of Ascension in Aspirant's Rest
2. Upgrade the feature to rank 2
3. Complete the "All The Colors of the Painbow" achievement — to do this you need to defeat Mad Mortimer while under the effects of "Flaming Veins", "Deep Freeze" and "Uncontrollable Vomiting"
4. Once you have the achievement, find Binkiros in Aspirant's Rest
5. Purchase the mount for 2,500 Reservoir Anima

Important: at max level the achievement can be problematic — the debuff effects may not apply to high-level characters. It is recommended to check current information on the forums before attempting.

Method 2: Necrolords — Abomination Factory

1. Join the Necrolord covenant and unlock the Abomination Factory in Maldraxxus
2. Raise your reputation with the Stitchmasters to "Exalted". Reputation is earned by creating abominations and completing Factory quests
3. Find the vendor Atticus in the Theater of Pain district
4. Purchase the mount for 5,000 Reservoir Anima

This is the most straightforward method — no high feature rank is required, just rank 1 and reputation.

Method 3: Night Fae — Queen's Conservatory

1. Join the Night Fae covenant and unlock the Queen's Conservatory in Ardenweald
2. Upgrade the feature to rank 5
3. Place a Divine Martial Spirit into the catalyst together with four Wildseed Root Grains
4. Wait for incubation to finish and open the reward container
5. The mount may drop with a certain chance. A higher-quality spirit increases the drop probability

This method is luck-based — the mount is not guaranteed in a single attempt. You will have to repeat the incubation several times.

Method 4: Venthyr — Court of Night

1. Join the Venthyr covenant and unlock the Court of Night in Revendreth
2. Upgrade the feature to rank 3
3. Invite a guest from Maldraxxus to the Court session — Alexandros Mograine or Baroness Vashj
4. Raise your relationship level with Alexandros Mograine to maximum ("Best Friend")
5. Hold a Court session and open the reward chest
6. The mount may drop from the chest with a certain chance. Higher-quality chests increase the probability

This method is also luck-based, but regular Court sessions will gradually yield results.

Recommendation: if you want the mount guaranteed, choose the Necrolords — it is the simplest and most straightforward path. The Abomination Factory requires only rank 1, and reputation with the Stitchmasters is earned through normal use of the Factory. The Kyrian method is also guaranteed, but the achievement can cause trouble at max level.

To buy the mount from Atticus you need to reach "Exalted" with the Stitchmasters.

Current Content

Shadowlands content is outdated. At level 90 all mobs and quests in the Shadowlands are completed instantly. However, the covenant features require time to level up, since they are tied to weekly limits.

Daily Plan (Necrolords)

1. Log into the game and visit the Abomination Factory in Maldraxxus
2. Build a new abomination if materials are available
3. Send abominations on missions for additional reputation
4. Complete the weekly Factory quests
5. Repeat until you reach "Exalted"
