Overview

Буря с градом

Game iconHailstorm is an epic one-handed sword from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The blade is rendered in a cold blue-and-white palette: the edge looks as if it were carved from pale blue ice, while a frosty mist trails along the cutting edge, echoing the theme of the blue dragonflight. It is one of the most recognizable "icy" one-handers of that era, and it is precisely for its appearance that appearance collectors still farm it today.

Source

Hailstorm drops from Malygos — the only boss of the Eye of Eternity raid, which opened in Wrath of the Lich King. After defeating Malygos, the reward appears in the suspended chest "Alexstrasza's Gift" at the center of the arena.

  • The raid counts as legacy content, so it can be soloed by almost any level 90 class.
  • The sword drops from the 10-player Heroic format of the raid; the approximate drop chance is around 20%.
  • The lockout limit is one run per week per character, so it makes sense to farm it across several characters.
  • The entrance to the Eye of Eternity is located in the Dragonblight (Northrend), on Coldarra near the entrance to Sapphiron.
  • Malygos dies within a few seconds, so the lion's share of the time is taken up by the journey to the island and the phase-based flight on dragons during the third phase of the fight.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It harmonizes with blue-and-white sets of a frosty theme — looks inspired by the blue dragonflight and icy death knights.
  • It complements sets that emphasize ice and frost magic, especially cold shades of mail and plate.
  • It contrasts with a rogue's dark leather armor — a divisive but striking choice for an "icy assassin" look.
  • It pairs well with a second blade in the same palette for dual-wielding two one-handed swords.

Tips

1

The Eye of Eternity is soloed without any trouble, so a separate group for farming is not needed.

2

In a single run, Malygos offers a chance not only at the sword but also at the mounts ability_mount_drake_azureReins of the Azure Drake and ability_mount_drake_blueReins of the Blue Drake — the farm pays off with several valuable targets at once.

3

The mounts drop from any raid format, so there is no need to run Heroic mode specifically for them.

4

The most convenient class for farming is any one with fast movement and good survivability during the third phase, where you need to mount Alexstrasza's dragon.

5

You can enter once a week on each character, so use alts to increase the number of attempts.

6

Before farming, open your transmogrification collection and make sure this appearance has not already been obtained.

7

Don't forget to reset the raid difficulty manually if you want to re-enter on the same character within the weekly limit.
