Halberd of Desolation is an epic two-handed polearm from the era of The Burning Crusade. The model is a massive axe-blade head on a long, dark haft, crafted in the grim, demonic style characteristic of the Black Temple, with jagged edges and dark metal.
The weapon suits any class that uses polearms in transmogrification: warrior, paladin, death knight, demon hunter, and druid. Thanks to its restrained dark palette, the halberd fits well into "dark" and "demonic" looks and doesn't steal attention with flashy effects.
Today the item is valuable purely as a transmog: its stats became obsolete long ago, and the appearance can be obtained in a single solo run through the start of the raid.
The Halberd of Desolation drops from High Warlord Naj'entus — the first boss of the Black Temple raid. The drop chance is around 15%, which is quite generous for a raid transmog: across a few runs the appearance is almost guaranteed to come together.
The Black Temple is located in the east of the Shadowmoon Valley zone in Outland. The entrance is in the far eastern part of the valley, by the wall of the temple itself.
Key points on access and farming:
The only restriction is the weekly raid reset: you can kill Naj'entus for the drop once per week per character. If the appearance doesn't drop, come back the following week or level extra characters for more attempts.
Drop into the raid once a week on several characters — this multiplies your attempts at the drop without the long wait for a reset.
The fastest class for farming is any with good mobility, but because the first boss is so close to the entrance, almost anyone will do.
Don't rush to leave the raid after Naj'entus: the other Black Temple bosses drop other valuable transmog, including the famous twin blades from the final boss.
A roughly 15% chance means the appearance drops on average in 6-7 runs — be patient if you're unlucky the first time.
Once learned, the appearance is saved to your account collection, so there's no need to collect the item again — it will unlock for all characters.
After learning the appearance the item itself can be sold or disenchanted: its stats are useless at the current level.
