Hammer of Purified Flame — Transmog Set Guide

Hammer of Purified Flame is a one-handed mace of epic quality, a caster weapon with intellect stats. It is a compact hammer with a golden head and a warm fiery glow: the design echoes the theme of the Silver Vanguard and the purifying flame of Quel'Danas. The look feels "holy" and reads well at close range.

The appearance suits classes that use one-handed caster maces: priests, shamans, druids, and similar.

The Hammer of Purified Flame does not drop directly from a boss — it is the reward for the long "Reforging Quel'Delar" quest chain. It is started by the quest item The Battered Hilt.

The hilt itself is a rare drop from regular mobs in the heroic versions of three Icecrown dungeons: The Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection. It drops infrequently, but the item is not bound, so you can buy it from other players on the auction house if your own luck falls short.

From there begins a chain of roughly a dozen quests: it will take you through Icecrown, Wyrmrest Temple, Dalaran, and the Isle of Quel'Danas, where the tainted blade is purified in the Sunwell. At the finale you must defeat a guardian at the Well and bring the restored Quel'Delar to a representative of your faction.

The final quest depends on faction: for the Alliance it is "The Silver Covenant's Victory," and for the Horde it is "The Sunreavers' Victory." As a reward you are offered a choice of several weapons of the same type — the Hammer of Purified Flame is selected from among the other maces. The reward is granted only once, so once you pick the hammer, you will no longer get the other options on that character.
