Harbor Gryphon
Overview

Harbor Gryphon is an epic flying mount added in patch 10.1.5 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is a gryphon that grew up in the harbor of Boralus, who never went to training alongside its kin, but over time grew strong and is ready to prove its worth. The mount is granted for free upon completing the Time to Fly quest and is available only to Alliance characters.
In the mount journal, the Harbor Gryphon is described as follows: "This gryphon was the smallest of its flock. It wasn't taken to training with the others. But today it's ready to prove what it's capable of." Visually, the mount differs from standard gryphons with a more compact and graceful silhouette.
Why You Want This Mount
- Completely free — obtaining the Harbor Gryphon requires no gold, reputation grinding, or completing difficult content. You just need to reach Boralus and talk to an NPC
- Available from level 30 — the quest appears automatically as soon as your Alliance character reaches level 30. Starting with patch 10.1.5, the riding skill is also learned automatically at level 30, so you don't need to spend gold on flight training
- Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Movement speed depends on your riding skill
- Unique model — the Harbor Gryphon visually differs from the gryphons you can buy from vendors. It has a more modest yet memorable appearance of a harbor "stray" gryphon
- Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the collection on every character of your account
How to Obtain — Step-by-Step Guide
Obtaining the Harbor Gryphon takes literally a couple of minutes. The Time to Fly quest appears automatically for any Alliance character who has reached level 30 when visiting Boralus.
- Make sure your Alliance character has reached level 30. If you play for the Horde, this mount is unavailable to you — instead, you will receive the
Time-Displaced Titanic Disc from a similar NPC in Dazar'alor - Reach Boralus (more on how to get to the city in the section below). Upon entering the city, the Time to Fly quest will appear automatically
- Open the quest log and track the Time to Fly quest. A marker showing the location of Leila Stafford will appear on the map
- Find Leila Stafford at the Tradewinds Market in Boralus. She stands in the western part of the market square
- Talk to the NPC and complete the quest. You will receive the
Harbor Gryphon as a reward - Use the obtained item — the mount will be added to your collection
How to Get to Boralus
- Head to Stormwind
- Find the portal room in the Mage Tower (Mage Quarter district)
- Use the portal to Boralus
- You will arrive in Boralus Harbor, from where it's just a few steps to the Tradewinds Market
Tips
The quest appears automatically — you don't need to look for it from an NPC. As soon as a level 30+ character arrives in Boralus, the Time to Fly quest will be added to the quest log
Works on high-level characters too — if you skipped this quest earlier, it will still appear when visiting Boralus. Check all your Alliance characters — perhaps one of them hasn't claimed the mount yet
Riding is learned automatically — since patch 10.1.5, the riding skill is unlocked for free upon reaching level 30. You don't need to find a trainer or spend gold — just get the mount and fly. Flight speed will increase as you level up and learn higher ranks of riding
The mount is account-bound — once you obtain the mount on one Alliance character, you'll be able to use it on all your other Alliance characters. The Harbor Gryphon is a faction mount and is unavailable to Horde characters
