Harvester's Dredwing
Overview

Harvester's Dredwing is an epic flying mount added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion with patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination." It is a purple dredwing beast — a spawn of the blood and darkness of Revendreth, serving as a war beast for the venthyr covenant of the Court of Harvesters.
The mount drops from the
Harvester's War Chest — the reward for successfully completing the Venthyr Assault quest during a covenant assault in The Maw. The mount's drop chance from the chest is around 4%, and the venthyr assault itself becomes available once every two weeks — this content remains relevant for collectors.
Why You Want This Mount
- Rare gothic model — the Harvester's dredwing looks visually distinct from other bats of Revendreth: a dark purple coloring, massive wings with blood-red veins and a rigid saddle in the style of the venthyr aristocracy. The model is used sparingly and adds recognizability to a collection
- Both flying and ground — the mount works in the air as well as on the ground, with a speed bonus based on your riding skill. Useful in Shadowlands zones where flying is allowed, and in the open world when you have flight
- One of the most prestigious 9.1 mounts — obtaining it requires two layers of randomness: the venthyr assault landing in the rotation and the 4% chest chance triggering. This makes the mount's collection value higher than ordinary seasonal rewards
- Account-wide — once obtained, the mount unlocks for all characters regardless of the chosen covenant. You do not have to pick the venthyr
How to Obtain
The main path to the mount is to wait for a venthyr assault in the Maw, complete it fully and open the
Harvester's War Chest.
- Unlock access to the Maw and Korthia. On a character who finished the Shadowlands 9.0 campaign, the Focusing the Eye quest is already complete. On alts, use the accelerated "Threads of Fate" start or a Ve'nari ticket
- Open the map of the Maw and check the currently active assault. If the venthyr assault is underway — head to Tremaculum in the northwestern part of the Maw
- Find Burly Hurly at the eastern gates of Tremaculum. Ask him to fling you onto the wall — this is the starting mechanic of the quest
- Pick up the Venthyr Assault quest from Prince Renathal on the wall of Tremaculum
- Complete four of the ten available assault sub-objectives — kills, freeing prisoners, destroying siege engines
- Help General Draven seize the upper platform, pass through the Mirror of the Maw back into Revendreth and direct light through four mirrors at the boss Gothra the Trembler
- Return through the final mirror and pick up the
Harvester's War Chest. Open it — with about a 4% chance, the
Harvester's Dredwing Saddle will be inside
Requirements and Preparation
Before your first run on the venthyr assault, make sure your character is ready for Maw content and able to complete the quest chain without delays.
- Level 50 and above — formally the content is designed for level 60 (Shadowlands), but scaling lets later characters enter as well
- Access to the Maw — the key story chain of the Shadowlands expansion is complete. For alts, the simplified path through "Threads of Fate" works
- Disabled Eye of the Jailer — the Focusing the Eye quest removes the time limit on staying in the Maw. Without it, increasingly harsh penalties will pursue you
- The venthyr assault specifically active — covenant assaults rotate in a fixed order: Kyrian assault → Venthyr assault → Night Fae assault → Necrolord assault. Each is active for roughly 3.5 days
- Free bag space — the assault grants several rewards: the chest itself, Stygia shards, Sinstone fragments and gear
How to Reach Tremaculum
Tremaculum is the northwestern part of the Maw, a fortress held by the venthyr during their assault. The fastest route there: arrive at Ve'nari's Refuge in the Maw by jumping into the chasm in the center of Oribos, and move north toward the eastern gates of Tremaculum
Use the /way 28 15 command for a precise route on the map of the Maw
During an active assault, a quest marker and several NPCs of your covenant will appear at the gates — this is the starting point
Farming Optimization
Rotation Schedule
Covenant assaults in the Maw rotate in a fixed order. On European realms they switch on Wednesdays at 8:00 and Saturdays at 20:00, and on North American realms on Tuesdays at 8:00 PDT and Fridays at 20:00 PDT. A single venthyr assault comes up roughly once every two weeks and stays active for about 3.5 days.
- Mark the windows of venthyr assaults in your calendar
- In the very first hours after activation, complete the quest on all available characters — the assault has no weekly lockout, but access to the chest is granted once per cycle
- Check the chest's contents immediately: if the mount did not drop, the next chance is only in two weeks
Farming on Alts
The Harvester's Dredwing Saddle is one of the mounts where multi-farming on alts significantly speeds up acquisition.
- Raise reputation with Ve'nari and unlock the Maw on at least 3–5 characters
- On each one, complete the venthyr assault while it is active
- Each character gives an independent 4% chance, meaning five alts give a combined roughly 18–20% per rotation cycle
Speedrunning the Assault
An experienced player closes out the venthyr assault in 15–20 minutes. At max level, all of the 9.1 content is cleared without serious resistance.
- Do not waste time on all ten sub-objectives — four are enough
- Use items with mass damage for quick kills of enemy groups
- Before the final mirror phase, clear out the platforms on both sides in advance: enemies on the Revendreth side can knock off the beam's direction
Tips
Prepare for months of farming — a 4% chance with access once every two weeks means the median time to obtain the mount is about 17 cycles, that is around 8 months on a single character. Alts are critical
Do not miss activation windows — if a venthyr assault passes you by, the next opportunity is only in two weeks. Set up reminders
Keep a hearthstone in Ve'nari's Refuge — this saves minutes on every run and lets you start the assault faster than competitors over the rare sub-objectives
Use a group — the venthyr assault allows team completion. In a group, clearing enemies in the final mirror phase goes faster
Watch the final mechanic — the boss Gothra the Trembler cannot be attacked directly. Damage is dealt only by directing light through four Mirrors of the Maw. Without completing this mechanic, the chest will not drop
Check the chest right after receiving it — the contents open once and are not saved, so you cannot stockpile chests for a later mass opening
The mount is account-wide after obtaining — once one character receives the
Harvester's Dredwing Saddle, it will appear in the collection of all your characters
