Haunting Call is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The blade is crafted in the grim aesthetic typical of the Scourge: a dark, narrow edge with a cold bluish sheen and a guard styled after bony ornamentation. The model captures the undead theme perfectly and looks great in the hands of characters with a dark appearance.
The dagger is a light one-handed melee weapon and is suitable for transmogrification on any class able to wield daggers — rogues, mages, warlocks, priests, druids, shamans, hunters and demon hunters. For transmog, only the appearance matters, and the item level stats play no role.

Haunting Call drops from regular mobs (so-called "trash") in the Naxxramas raid — the floating necropolis of the Scourge from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
- Source type: a drop from ordinary enemies between bosses, not from a specific boss.
- The drop chance is very low — less than 1 percent from a single enemy.
- The dagger binds to the character on pickup, so it cannot be passed to another character.
- The item drops in the 25-player raid mode. On modern servers, the entire clear is done solo.
Naxxramas hovers above the Dragonblight zone in Northrend. No access questline is required to enter — you just need a flying mount to reach the necropolis. The nearest flight point: Wintergarde Keep for the Alliance and Venomspite for the Horde, from which the necropolis is only a short distance to the east.
Since the dagger you need drops specifically from regular mobs, you don't have to kill every boss to farm it — it's enough to regularly clear the raid corridors. The most efficient approach is to go through the raid wings collecting all the "trash," then reset the raid and enter again.
Who it suits visually
- Harmonizes with dark armor sets from Wrath of the Lich King dungeons and raids — a Scourge and undead style look.
- Pairs with a cold blue-steel color palette: frosty and shadow armor sets look cohesive with this blade.
- Suits grim rogue or warlock looks, where the dagger should appear stealthy and sinister rather than ceremonial.
- Contrasts with light and golden sets — a debatable choice, but the contrast turns the blade into an accent detail.
- Fits a "cultist" or "necromancer" concept: the dark dagger nicely completes the look of a servant of dark powers.
Tips
The dagger drops only from regular mobs, so there's no need to farm bosses for it — focus on clearing the corridors between bosses.
In a single run through Naxxramas you clear all the "trash" once; for another attempt, reset the raid and enter again. The cooldown on resetting a single zone lets you make several runs in a row.
The drop chance is very low, so be prepared for regular farming over several days or weeks.
It's most convenient to farm on classes with fast movement and area damage: they clear groups of mobs quickly and shorten the time per lap.
On the same run you can also pick up Silent Crusher and Inevitable Defeat along the way — they drop from the same enemy pool.
Take a flying mount: the entrance to Naxxramas is in the air above Dragonblight, and without flight you won't be able to reach the necropolis.
Remember that the dagger binds on pickup, so you need to farm it on the very character who ultimately needs it for the appearance collection.
