Overview

Heaven's Fall, Kryss of a Thousand Lies

Game iconHeaven's Fall, Kryss of a Thousand Lies is an epic one-handed dagger from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, added in patch 3.3.2 alongside the opening of the Icecrown Citadel raid. It is a slender blade with a dark metallic edge and a forged guard in the signature style of WotLK's final raid — cold blue-steel tones that echo the armor and weapons of the Scourge.

The dagger belongs to the one-handed weapon class, so its model is available for transmogrification to rogues, demon hunters, druids, shamans, mages, warlocks, and priests — anyone who wields daggers. The slot is main hand or off hand.

The name is a reference to the South Park episode about World of Warcraft: "Kryss of a Thousand Lies" mirrors "Sword of a Thousand Truths." The item's flavor text continues the theme of deceit: "The sting of lies is steeped in hatred, the legacy of flattering words is ruin." For transmog collectors, it is first and foremost a reason to return to one of the game's most iconic raids — the finale of Arthas's story.

Source

The dagger drops from The Lich King — the final boss of the Icecrown Citadel raid.

  • Mode: 25-player raid, normal difficulty. Item level is 284.
  • The boss is located at the top of the citadel, on the Frozen Throne.
  • Attempt limit: one run per week per character due to the shared raid loot lockout.
  • The heroic version of the dagger (Game iconitem=50736) shares the same model and drops from the Lich King in 25-player heroic mode.

How to Reach the Raid

The entrance to Icecrown Citadel is located in the southern part of the Icecrown zone, by the massive gates with siege battering rams. Entrance coordinates:

/way Icecrown 50.96 95.25 Entrance to Icecrown Citadel

The fastest way to get there is from Dalaran: set your hearthstone to the city and fly west — the trip takes about a minute. At the current max level, the raid can be cleared solo by virtually any class; no separate group is needed.

Fast Track to the Boss

To avoid clearing the entire raid, experienced collectors use a trash skip before the final section: with a glider toy and a slow-fall effect, you can glide down through the shaft, bypassing Valithria Dreamwalker and the enemy groups before Sindragosa. This method works on all classes and noticeably shortens the run.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Harmonizes with Tier 10 — the raid sets from Icecrown Citadel: the dagger's blue-steel palette matches the color scheme of those sets.
  • Suits looks in the spirit of the Scourge and undead themes — the cold metallic tones complement the dark armor of death knights.
  • Contrasts with light cloth and leather armor — the dark blade becomes an accent in the hands of a mage or rogue.
  • Fits "icy" sets emphasizing blue and silver shades — for example, with gear from the zones of Northrend.

Tips

1

The raid resets once a week, so it makes sense to repeat the run for the dagger with different characters on a single account — that way your chances of a drop are higher.

2

The Lich King drops several valuable weapon and armor items at once, as well as the Invincible mount in 25-player heroic mode — farming for transmog combines with mount hunting.

3

A solo clear at the current max level takes 10–15 minutes with a full clear, and noticeably less if you use the trash skip.

4

It is most convenient to farm with classes that have high mobility and their own slow fall — for example, a death knight or rogue.

5

Once you obtain the dagger, its appearance is saved forever in your transmogrification collection and is available to all characters on the account who wield daggers.

6

If you only want the appearance, don't waste time on heroic mode: the normal 25-player version gives the same model at lower difficulty.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
