Get Hopecrusher Gargon mount

Hopecrusher Gargon is an epic ground mount added in patch 9.0.1 of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a massive black gargon clad in heavy armor that drops from the rare mob Hopecrusher in the Chalice District of Revendreth. The mount is initially available only to members of the Venthyr covenant, but after reaching Renown level 80 with the Venthyr it becomes available to every character on the account.

According to the lore, this gargon was once the loyal steed of a lord of House Branthir, but one day it turned against its master and his retinue. Ever since, members of House Branthir have whispered of a dark gargon lurking in the gloomy corners of the Chalice District.

• Unique model — the Hopecrusher Gargon boasts an exclusive black coloring that sets it apart from the other gargons of Revendreth. No other gargon mount has such a dark coat.
• Rarity — the drop chance is around 1–2%, and you only get one attempt per day. Few players are willing to farm it systematically, so encountering this mount in the game is quite a rare sight.
• Fast farming at high level — at level 80 (The War Within), the rare mob is killed in a few seconds. The daily attempt takes literally a couple of minutes, including the flight.
• Revendreth theme — if you enjoy the gothic aesthetic of Revendreth, this mount fits perfectly into a collection alongside the other Venthyr covenant rewards.
• Available account-wide — once learned, the mount becomes available to all characters, provided the covenant requirements are met.

To get the mount you need to kill the rare mob Hopecrusher in Revendreth and earn a lucky drop. Here is a step-by-step guide.

1. Make sure your character belongs to the Venthyr covenant. This is a mandatory condition — only the Venthyr can obtain the mount from this mob
2. Head to Revendreth, to the "Charred Ramparts" flight point
3. Fly to the Chalice District (coordinates roughly 52, 52)
4. Find the corpse of a bat called "Large Prey" in the center of the courtyard
5. Interact with the corpse — this will summon Hopecrusher
6. Kill the mob and pray for luck
7. If Hopecrusher Gargon drops, use the item to learn the mount

Hopecrusher is not an ordinary rare mob that simply roams the zone. A specific action is required to make it appear.

Summoning Mechanic

1. Fly to the "Charred Ramparts" flight point in Revendreth
2. Move east, toward the Chalice District
3. Inside the castle find a courtyard with the corpse of a dredbat — "Large Prey" (NPC ID: 166682)
4. Click the corpse. This triggers the summoning of Hopecrusher
5. The mob appears after a few seconds — be ready for the fight

Respawn

The respawn timer is exactly 1 hour after the kill or after activating the corpse. If someone has already killed the mob, you will have to wait. If the "Large Prey" corpse is missing from its spot, the mob was recently summoned by another player and the timer has not yet expired.

The Hopecrusher Gargon is tied to the Venthyr covenant. Let's break down all the nuances.

To Obtain the Mount

Your character must belong to the Venthyr covenant at the moment the mob is killed. Only the Venthyr see the loot with a chance at the mount. Characters of other covenants will not be able to get the drop.

To Use the Mount

Initially the mount can only be used on Venthyr covenant characters. However, after reaching Renown level 80 with the Venthyr the restriction is lifted, and the mount becomes available to every character on the account regardless of their current covenant.

How to Join the Venthyr Covenant

1. Reach level 60 (or use the Chromie system to level up through Shadowlands)
2. Complete the main Shadowlands story campaign, including the introductory quests of each covenant
3. Upon completing the campaign, choose the Venthyr covenant in Oribos
4. At level 80 (The War Within) you can join a covenant right away without completing the full campaign — just visit the Venthyr sanctum in Oribos

Despite its status as a rare elite mob, at the current maximum level (80, The War Within) the fight poses no difficulty.

Mob Abilities

• Crushing Strength — increases damage by 300% but reduces movement speed by 50%. Back in Shadowlands this was dangerous, but at level 80 it poses no threat
• Hopecrusher — a melee strike with increased damage
• Charge — the mob lunges at a target at range

Combat Tips

• At level 80 with The War Within gear the mob dies in 3–5 seconds. No special preparation is required
• If you are farming the mount on a level 60 character, an item level of 200+ and the use of kiting are recommended
• Tank specializations handle the mob most easily thanks to their defensive abilities

Daily Plan

The rare mob can be looted once per day per character. The optimal strategy:

1. Bind your hearthstone to the Charred Ramparts or near the Chalice District.
2. Each day log in on a Venthyr character, teleport, and fly to coordinates 52, 52.
3. Check for the "Large Prey" corpse. If the corpse is in place — summon and kill the mob.
4. If there is no corpse — wait until the hour is up or come back later.
5. The whole process takes 2–3 minutes a day.

Multiple Characters

To speed up the farm, create several Venthyr covenant characters. Each character grants an additional daily attempt. Three Venthyr characters triple your chances.

Farming Math

With a drop chance of ~1.5% and one attempt per day:

• 1 character: on average ~67 days (about 2 months)
• 2 characters: on average ~33 days (about 1 month)
• 3 characters: on average ~22 days (about 3 weeks)

Of course, luck may smile on you on the very first attempt — or make you wait considerably longer.
