[ — a Horde ground mount dating back to the Classic era. It is a large gray-and-white wolf with a thick coat, standing out from the standard orc wolves thanks to its massive build. The item description references northern legends: "This species was once thought to be extinct everywhere but the far north. Anyone preparing for winter would love to acquire one of these wolves."
The mount is sold by an ordinary vendor in Orgrimmar for just one gold coin. Any Horde character level ten or higher can obtain it: orcs and Mag'har orc shamans have no restrictions, while all other Horde races need Exalted reputation with the Orgrimmar faction.
The wolf mounts are sold by Ogunaro Wolfrunner, who holds the title "Wolf Handler." He stands next to the wolf pens behind the Hall of Legends in the Valley of Honor — the eastern part of Orgrimmar. Once you enter the Valley of Honor, follow the main street to the open area on the right where the wolves are kept.
Ogunaro sells seven different wolves. The first four grant +60% speed and cost one gold each, while the other three grant +100% and cost 10 gold.
| Mount | Speed | Price |
|---|---|---|
| +60% | 1 gold | |
| +60% | 1 gold | |
| +60% | 1 gold | |
| +60% | 1 gold | |
| +100% | 10 gold | |
| +100% | 10 gold | |
| +100% | 10 gold |
Historically, the wolves of Orgrimmar are racial mounts of the orcs, so orcs and Mag'har orcs have no reputation requirement. All other Horde races — trolls, blood elves, tauren, undead, goblins, Horde pandaren, vulpera, nightborne — will see the message "Requires Exalted reputation with Orgrimmar" at Ogunaro until they reach the required standing.
If you play an orc, you can fly straight to Orgrimmar and buy the wolf. Level ten is enough — riding skill is granted automatically in The War Within. You don't need to complete a single quest.
After purchase, the item goes into your bag. Right-click it once — the mount is automatically added to your collection (press P → "Mounts" tab), and the item itself disappears.
If you are not an orc, buying the mount requires Exalted reputation with Orgrimmar. The most efficient methods in 2026:
The main method is a chain of repeatable cloth turn-in quests at the Horde cloth quartermaster in the Drag (a district of Orgrimmar), at the "Magar's Cloth Goods" shop. The chain looks like this:
The first four quests are one-time. The last one — "Additional Runecloth" — can be turned in endlessly until you reach Exalted. Runecloth is easily farmed in old level 50-60 zones or bought on the auction house.
The
Orgrimmar Tabard is sold by Stone Guard Nargol on the upper level of Orgrimmar next to the flight master for 10 silver. While wearing the tabard in old dungeons (Classic, TBC, Wrath, Cataclysm), every enemy you kill grants Orgrimmar reputation. A single solo run of an old dungeon can yield several hundred points.
Story quest chains in Mulgore, Durotar, the Barrens, and the Northern Barrens also grant Orgrimmar reputation for most tasks. If you leveled your character through old content, part of the path to Exalted is already done automatically.
In practice, the full path from Friendly to Exalted, combining cloth and the tabard, takes 3-5 hours of active farming.
Saving on alts: the mount is account-bound, so you only need to buy it once on any Horde character. If you already have an orc, the easiest path is to buy the wolf on it rather than grinding reputation on other races.
Grab all the wolves at once: at Exalted it's worthwhile to buy all seven wolves from Ogunaro in one trip. That way you close six more entries in the mount counter for Cavalier and subsequent achievements. The minimum cost is 34 gold for the full set.
Combine the tabard with cloth: put on the
Orgrimmar Tabard, enter a solo run of any old dungeon, and turn in cloth to the quartermaster at the same time — reputation grows from two sources simultaneously.
Keep cloth on hand: if you're a professional tailor or just leveling the profession, save some of the runecloth you produce specifically for turn-ins to the quartermaster — it speeds up reputation farming several times over.
Valley of Honor is a convenient spot: near Ogunaro you'll find a banker, a mailbox, a hunter trainer, and a tailor. You can grab the mount and handle errands in a single visit.
Activate the item after purchase: the horn in your bag doesn't launch like a normal mount — it's a teaching item. Right-click it, and the wolf is added to your collection and becomes available through the regular mount menu.
