Swift Brown Wolf

Horn of the Swift Brown Wolf is an epic ground wolf mount of the Horde faction, one of the classic racial steeds of the orcs. This large brown wolf with thick fur and a stern gaze appeared in the game back in the original World of Warcraft and is still on sale at the city wolf breeder in Orgrimmar.

In the current expansion The War Within (patch 11.1), the mount is sold for a token sum and is available to any Horde character — orcs receive it without restrictions, while the other races of the faction must earn Exalted reputation with Orgrimmar. It is used as a classic city wolf with a model that differs from the standard orc wolves with a lighter brown coloring and a distinctive posture.

• Classic epic wolf model — one of the seven Orgrimmar wolf steeds, notably different from the usual racial mounts in coloring and animation. A great find for collectors of classic models.
• +100% speed — a full epic ground mount that travels at the maximum speed of an Apprentice rider.
• Almost free — after patch 9.0.1 the price was reduced to 1 gold, making the mount one of the cheapest epics in the game.
• Account-wide — after purchase the mount will appear in the collection of all your Horde characters, so you only need to obtain it once.
• Part of Ogunaro's wolf collection — together with it, you can buy six more wolves from the same vendor: Horn of the Dire Wolf, Horn of the Brown Wolf, Horn of the Black Wolf, Horn of the Timber Wolf, Horn of the Swift Timber Wolf and Horn of the Swift Gray Wolf. All of them are useful for mount-count achievements.

The vendor is located in the Valley of Honor in the northeastern part of Orgrimmar, next to the stable behind the Hunter's Hall. He patrols a small area around the wolf pen, so that's exactly where you should look for him.

The most convenient ways to get there:

1. Open your Hearthstone bound to Orgrimmar or use the portal from your sanctum/stronghold
2. Through the portals in the central hall of the Sacred Lands or at Stormwind Keep you can quickly reach any major Horde capital
3. From Orgrimmar on foot: head from the main entrance to the northeast past the Mages' Quarter and you will reach the Valley of Honor
4. Go around the Hunter's Hall on the east side — Ogunaro stands by the wolf pen

If you play a non-orc race and do not have Exalted, you will first need to complete the reputation before buying the mount (see below).

1. Reach level 10 with any Horde character. At level 80 in The War Within this is not a problem, but the mount is available from the early stages of leveling
2. Train Apprentice Riding from any riding trainer.
3. For non-orcs — earn Exalted reputation with Orgrimmar (details below). Orcs skip this step
4. Travel to Orgrimmar and reach the Valley of Honor
5. Find Ogunaro Wolfrunner at the pen behind the Hunter's Hall. Coordinates 61.0 35.4
6. Open his shop and purchase the Horn of the Swift Brown Wolf for 1 gold
7. Use the item from your bag or the collections window — the mount will be added to all of your account collections

If you play a non-orc, you will need Exalted with the Orgrimmar faction. The most effective methods in the current patch 11.1:

• Orgrimmar Tabard. Buy the Orgrimmar Tabard. In any old-world dungeon (pre-Cataclysm) where the "not my faction" debuff drops off, the tabard grants reputation for every kill. Wrath of the Lich King dungeons grant reputation gains while championing. Put on the tabard and run dungeons through the finder — 1-2 hours of active farming gives a significant boost
• Orgrimmar cooking and fishing dailies. Cooking dailies in Orgrimmar grant 250 reputation points per completion. If you do them every day, over a couple of weeks it adds up to a noticeable increase
• Quests in Orgrimmar and the Horde starting zones. Many quests in Durotar, Mulgore and Tirisfal Glades grant reputation with Orgrimmar — this is the slowest but most reliable option for new characters
• The "Call to Adventure" chest and seasonal events sometimes add bonuses to old reputations, so keep an eye on the weekly activities of the current season

The full path from Neutral to Exalted is 42,000 reputation points. With the tabard and active farming of old dungeons, this takes one or two evenings.

Since you've made it to the vendor, it makes sense to grab the other six wolves right away — they all count toward mount-count achievements and have unique colorings.

All seven mounts are sold by the same character — buy the missing ones in a single trip.

• The mount is account-wide, so you only need to buy it on one Horde character. If you have an orc — get it on them, even if your main is another race: this will bypass the Exalted requirement.
• Patch 9.0.1 lowered the requirements. Previously level 40 and Journeyman Riding were needed; now level 10 and Apprentice are enough. This made completing the collection on new characters easier.
• Don't confuse it with the regular brown wolf. Horn of the Brown Wolf is a separate mount with a different model and common status. The epic version is visually larger and has +100% speed.
• Currency and riding skill provide a bonus. Thanks to the racial trait "Command," orcs also get cheaper training from their own trainers.
• Check whether the mount has already been bought by another character. Collections are shared on the account, so before buying, open the collections window (default key Shift+P) and make sure the wolf isn't already on the list.
• The optimal order for a new Horde player is to complete Orgrimmar first of all the capitals. The reputation is needed for seven wolves at once, and leveling with the tabard goes quickly. The other Horde capitals (Silvermoon, Thunder Bluff, Undercity) can be completed later if you wish.
