Get Horn of the White War Wolf mount

Horn of the White War Wolf is an epic ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Dragonflight expansion, patch 10.1.5 from July 11, 2023. It is a mighty snow-white wolf in traditional Horde armor with battle standards on its back, the Horde's answer to the Alliance gryphons within the "Time Rifts" event. The item description reads: "Can anything sate a wolf's hunger? These massive predatory beasts hunt down and devour the enemies of the Horde."

The mount is sold for 3,000 Paracausal Flakes by the NPC Krizzik in the Tyrhold Reservoir, Thaldraszus. In addition, the mount can drop from the final bosses of the Time Rifts or from the Curio of Collapsing Reality — a weekly reward for gathering 7,500 temporal essence in a single rift.

• Unique white model — a snow-white wolf with gold-and-red Horde armor and flowing standards looks far more imposing than the standard orcish wolves and is rarely seen on other players.
• Speed 10 out of 10 — the mount gains a +60% or +100% ground movement speed bonus depending on your riding skill, meaning it travels at the maximum ground-mount speed.
• Account-wide unlock — once obtained, the mount unlocks for every character on your Horde account, and via the Gift of the White War Wolf it can be passed to an Alliance player.
• Dual acquisition path — you can buy it directly with currency, or you can farm rifts and hope for a drop from a boss or the weekly chest.
• Collection set bonus — it is one of seven Time Rifts mounts, alongside the Alliance faction Reins of the Ravenous Black Gryphon and five neutral models.

The primary and most reliable path to the mount is purchasing it from the Time Rifts vendor in Thaldraszus for 3,000 Paracausal Flakes. At max level, the currency is gathered over 4–6 hours of active event farming.

1. Level a Horde character to at least 60 (70+ recommended for free participation)
2. Fly to the Tyrhold Reservoir in Thaldraszus — a point directly east of Valdrakken
3. Wait for the "Time Rifts" event to begin — it starts automatically at the top of every hour
4. Accumulate 7,500 units of temporal essence by completing tasks in the first phase (killing waves of enemies, activating mechanisms, defending the crystal)
5. Enter the portal and defeat the boss in the second phase in one of seven alternate realities
6. Collect the loot and receive 1,000 Paracausal Flakes from the weekly quest "When Time Needs Mending"
7. Gather 3,000 flakes and buy the Horn of the White War Wolf from the vendor Krizzik in the Tyrhold Reservoir

A Time Rift is a public event in the Tyrhold Reservoir that launches automatically at the top of every hour and lasts about 15 minutes. The event is split into two phases.

The seven alternate realities are: Azmorrah, A.Z.E.R.O.T.H., Azurnaught, Wartorn Reaches, Az'krot, Azmerloth and Ulderoth. Each has its own set of enemies and a final boss, but the chance at the mount is the same for all of them.

The event's main currency is the Reach Racer's Purse. To buy the mount you need to gather 3,000 units, which corresponds to roughly 5–8 hours of active farming.

One of the key aspects of the Time Rifts mounts is the ability to share them with the opposite faction. Occasionally, instead of the normal version of the mount, the rift bosses drop the Gift of the White War Wolf — a special item that a Horde player can hand to an Alliance character to unlock the mount.

• Obtaining the Gift — it drops randomly from the final bosses of the Time Rifts instead of the normal mount. There is no targeted purchase
• Transfer — the item can be put up at the auction house or handed over directly through the trade window with any Alliance player
• Symmetry — the Alliance can likewise obtain the Gift of the Ravenous Black Gryphon and exchange it for the Gift of the White War Wolf
• Trade threads — on the Blizzard forums and themed sites, threads for direct gift exchanges between factions are created regularly

Hourly rhythm

The Time Rift launches exactly at the top of every hour and lasts 15 minutes. There are 45 minutes of downtime between rifts, so it makes sense to plan other activities for that time.

1. Five minutes before the top of the hour, fly to the Tyrhold Reservoir
2. From the very first second of the event, start killing mobs and activating mechanisms to accumulate essence
3. Aim for the 7,500 temporal essence mark — this grants a chest with guaranteed flakes and a chance at the mount
4. Jump into the portal and clear the alternate reality with other players
5. Once finished, turn in Soridormi's weekly quest if you haven't already

Multi-character farming

Unlike many events, paracausal flakes can be transferred between characters on your account via the Paracausal Coffer, sold by Shi Everbreeze in the same reservoir. The transfer cost is 500 flakes for a coffer holding 500 units of the currency, with no loss.

• At max level (80 in The War Within), Dragonflight rifts are cleared in 5–7 minutes
• Each character receives its own chest with an independent chance at the mount
• The weekly quest "When Time Needs Mending" is account-wide (once per week per account)
• Soridormi reputation is farmed in parallel, unlocking additional rewards

Rewards by Soridormi reputation level

Reputation with the Soridormi faction is gained for every rift completed and unlocks boosts that speed up farming the mount.

• Level 4 — unlocks the Greater Bound Augment Rune, guaranteeing a mount or pet you do not yet have from the rift if used before defeating the final boss
• Additional daily tasks — repeatable tasks for extra flakes appear at the Edge of Reality
• Discounts and bonuses — gear upgrades and cosmetics at the intermediate levels
