Swift Gray Wolf

Swift Gray Wolf is one of the classic orc racial mounts, added back in the original World of Warcraft. It's an epic ground wolf in a dark gray coat with green eyes that increases movement speed by 100%. The item is sold by Ogunaro Wolfrunner behind the Hall of the Brave in the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar — he deals in the entire line of orc wolves and traditionally repeats: "The wolves of the Horde are friends, not pets."

The mount is available to Horde characters. Orcs receive it with no additional conditions, while players of other races must first earn Exalted reputation with Orgrimmar. In the current patch 11.1 of The War Within, this wolf remains one of the most atmospheric options for any character who wants to look truly orcish — especially against modern models.

• Classic orc style — a stern, dark gray wolf model with no unnecessary frills. Looks great on Horde hunters, warriors, and shamans playing a "lore-friendly" character.
• +100% ground movement speed — after patch 9.0.1 the mount requires only Apprentice Riding, yet the speed stays on par with epic ground transport.
• Available from level 10 — you can mount even a freshly created Horde character as soon as riding is unlocked.
• Unlocked account-wide — buy it once, and the Swift Gray Wolf appears in the collection of all your Horde characters.
• Part of the orc racial mount collection — it counts toward mount-collecting achievements and pairs well with other wolves from the same vendor.
• Cheap and fast — it costs only 10 gold. Once you raise your Orgrimmar reputation to Exalted, the purchase takes a couple of minutes.

The mount vendor is Ogunaro Wolfrunner, titled "Wolf Breeder." He stands behind the Hall of the Brave in the Valley of Honor — the eastern part of Orgrimmar. Wolf pens are located right next to him, so it's easy to navigate: just head toward the loud howling.

The fastest way to get there:

1. Use your Hearthstone bound to Orgrimmar, or a portal from any capital
2. From the main gates, head northeast — toward the Valley of Honor
3. Pass through the arch, past the training dummies and the forge
4. Go around the Hall of the Brave on the right — the vendor stands by the wolf pens

You'll need at least 10 gold on hand, plus the reputation requirement met if your character isn't an orc.

The breeder sells seven orc racial wolves. They all share identical models in different colorings — regular ones for 1 gold and swift ones for 10 gold. It's a handy "checklist" for mount collectors.

If you're already going for the Horn of the Swift Gray Wolf, it makes sense to buy all seven mounts at once. Altogether it'll cost 34 gold, and your collection will grow by seven entries in a single visit.

For Horde characters who aren't orcs, the main obstacle is reputation. You can reach Exalted with Orgrimmar in several ways, and most of them combine with ordinary max-level activity.

Method 1. Orgrimmar Tabard in old dungeons

For a long time, the fastest path was considered wearing the Tabard of Orgrimmar while running dungeons from older expansions. The tabard is sold by the Orgrimmar quartermaster at the city entrance. Wear it in the appropriate slot, and any reputation points earned from kills inside a dungeon will count toward Orgrimmar.

The most efficient dungeons to farm:

• Botanica (Outland) — a compact map, dense mob packs, fast respawns after resetting the instance
• Any Northrend or Outland dungeon on Heroic difficulty — a full clear gives the most points

The sequence is: put on the tabard, enter the dungeon, clear all mobs and bosses, leave, reset the instance through the group menu, and repeat. In 1–2 hours you can go from Friendly all the way to Exalted.

Method 2. Quests in Orgrimmar and starting zones

All quests in Durotar, Orgrimmar, and the nearby Horde zones grant Orgrimmar reputation. If you're leveling a new character through classic zones, some reputation will accumulate on its own. Additionally, you can run the chains in Azshara and the Northern Barrens — that gives a noticeable boost.

Method 3. Racial heritage

If in the future you plan to obtain heritage armor for any non-human Horde race, Exalted with Orgrimmar will be needed anyway. It's convenient to combine the mount farm with this long-term goal.

1. Create or pick a Horde character with Apprentice Riding leveled. The minimum level is 10
2. If your character is an orc, this step is skipped. If not — earn Exalted with Orgrimmar by any of the methods above
3. Gather at least 10 gold. At max level the sum is trivial, but check your wallet before teleporting
4. Travel to Orgrimmar by any convenient means: a portal, a Hearthstone teleport, or a flight through Durotar
5. Go to the Valley of Honor, walk around the Hall of the Brave, and find Ogunaro Wolfrunner by the wolf pens
6. Open the dialogue and buy the Horn of the Swift Gray Wolf for 10 gold
7. Use the item — the mount is automatically added to your collection and becomes available to all your Horde characters
