Get Slime-Covered Reins of the Hulking Deathroc mount

Slime-Covered Reins of the Hulking Deathroc is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.0.1 of the Shadowlands expansion. The Hulking Deathroc is a stitched-together creature made from the scraps of flesh, bone, and organs that the House of Constructs in Maldraxxus had no use for. The mount drops from the rare enemy Violet Mistake, which must be summoned at the Pool of Mixed Monstrosities in the House of Plagues, Maldraxxus.

In appearance, the Hulking Deathroc is a massive purple undead lizard covered in seams and slime. The character rides atop a construct that lumbers heavily across the ground and unfurls bony wings in flight. The mount shares its model with other Maldraxxus deathrocs — the Bonestitched Fleshroc, the Colossal Slaughterclaw, and the Predatory Plagueroc.

• A unique way to obtain it — to summon the Violet Mistake, you need to gather the right combination of ingredients and mix them in the pool. This is a mini-game that differs from standard rare farming.
• A stylish model — the purple deathroc stands out among Shadowlands mounts with its grim Maldraxxus aesthetic and massive silhouette.
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, making it versatile for any content.
• Not tied to a covenant — the mount can be obtained and used by a character of any covenant, despite its Maldraxxus origin.
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount becomes available on every character of the account.
• Quick daily farm — at level 80 in The War Within, summoning and killing the Violet Mistake takes mere minutes. One attempt per day is enough.

To obtain the mount, you need:

1. A character of level 10 or higher (to learn the mount)
2. Riding skill: Apprentice (ground), Expert (for flight)
3. Complete the quest chain in the House of Plagues so you can see the slime ingredients:
   • "A Plague upon Your House"
   • "The Potion Pool"
   • "Heartless Potions"

The House of Plagues is located in the southern part of Maldraxxus, south of the "Plague Watch" flight point.

Quick Route

1. Open the Maldraxxus map and find the "Plague Watch" flight point in the central-southern part of the zone
2. If the flight point is not yet unlocked, fly in on a mount from the nearest available point — for example, from the Theater of Pain
3. From the "Plague Watch" flight point, head south — the Pool of Mixed Monstrosities is at coordinates 58.5, 74.2

Step 1: Complete the Quest Chain

Before farming the mount, make sure you have completed the preparatory quests in the House of Plagues. Without them, you will not see the ingredients that the oozes leave behind when they die. The quests are: "A Plague upon Your House," "The Potion Pool," and "Heartless Potions." They are available in the House of Plagues and take a few minutes to complete.

Step 2: Learn the Ingredients

Oozes of three colors wander around the Pool of Mixed Monstrosities. When killed, they leave a glowing object on the ground that any player can pick up:

• Red oozes — drop Viscous Oil
• Blue oozes — drop Putrid Slime
• Yellow oozes — drop Miscible Ooze

Once you pick up an ingredient, you get a cauldron on your back and are slowed. Carry it to the pool and dump it in.

Step 3: Mix the Correct Recipe

To summon specifically the Violet Mistake, you must keep the proportion:

Blue = Red > Yellow

The optimal recipe is 15 units of Putrid Slime (blue) and 15 units of Viscous Oil (red), with no yellow. Adding a small amount of yellow (up to 8 units) is allowed, but blue and red must be equal and exceed yellow. The total number of ingredients must reach 30.

Step 4: Summon and Kill the Violet Mistake

When the pool fills with 30 ingredients in the correct proportion, the Violet Mistake — a purple slime-like monster — emerges from it. At level 80, this enemy poses no challenge at all and dies within seconds.

Step 5: Collect the Loot

Search the body of the Violet Mistake. The mount Slime-Covered Reins of the Hulking Deathroc drops with a chance of roughly 3–5%. If the mount does not drop, come back tomorrow, as the loot is available only once per day.

Step 6: Learn the Mount

If the item drops, use it from your inventory to learn the mount. After that, the Hulking Deathroc will appear in the mount collection on every character of the account.
