Ice Mammoth (Horde)

Ice Mammoth is a ground mount from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, available to Horde characters. It is a snow-white mammoth in icy armor with red trim, one of the symbols of the Sons of Hodir faction. The mount is sold by the faction's quartermaster once you reach the "Revered" reputation level and costs 1,000 gold.

The Alliance has a separate version of this mount — Reins of the Ice Mammoth. Visually both versions are identical except for the color of the armor trim: the Horde version has red accents, while the Alliance version has blue ones. Since patch 5.1 mounts have been account-wide, so purchasing either version makes the mount available to all of your characters.

• Collection value — one of the few mammoth mounts in the game obtainable through reputation. The massive mammoth silhouette in icy armor stands out among standard mounts.
• Relatively easy to obtain — unlike most reputation mounts, this one only requires the "Revered" level, not "Exalted". At max level, grinding the reputation takes a few days.
• Account-wide — once purchased, the mount unlocks for every character on your account, including Alliance characters.
• Upgraded version — the same quartermaster sells Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth for 10,000 gold at "Exalted" — a three-seat mount with passenger seats. While grinding reputation to "Revered", you can decide whether to stop or push on to "Exalted" for the grand mammoth.

The mount is sold by Lillehoff — quartermaster of the Sons of Hodir. He is located in Dun Niffelem, within the Storm Peaks in Northrend.

How to Get There

1. Open a portal to Dalaran (Northrend). If you are in your capital, use the portal from Orgrimmar or another Horde city
2. From Dalaran, fly southeast into the Storm Peaks
3. Find Dun Niffelem — the settlement of the frost giants in the central part of the zone
4. Lillehoff stands among the giants, at coordinates 66.2, 61.4

Important: for Lillehoff to become available for interaction, you must first complete the Sons of Hodir introductory quest chain. Without it, the NPC will not appear or talk to you.

The Sons of Hodir are a faction of frost giants from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Unlike most factions, they have no tabard, and their reputation cannot be earned through dungeons. Progress comes from quests, daily quests, and turning in items.

Step 1: Unlocking the Faction

Reputation with the Sons of Hodir starts at the "Hated" level. To raise them to "Neutral" and gain access to daily quests, complete the long quest chain in the Storm Peaks.

1. Arrive at K3 in the Storm Peaks
2. Pick up the quest They Took Our Men! from Gretchen Fizzlespark
3. Complete the quest chain in order — it will lead you through several storylines in the zone
4. Once the chain is complete, your reputation will reach "Neutral" and daily quests will open up

At max level (80 in The War Within) all quests and mobs are killed instantly. The chain takes about 1.5–2 hours.

Step 2: From "Neutral" to "Revered"

After unlocking the faction, daily quests will appear in Dun Niffelem and the surrounding area. As your reputation rises, additional daily quests are unlocked.

Daily quests grant between 1,050 and 2,250 reputation per day. To reach "Revered" through daily quests alone takes about 7–10 days.

Step 3 (fast track): Relics of Ulduar

The fastest way to earn reputation is to turn in Relics of Ulduar. Every 10 relics grant 350 reputation (before bonuses). Relics can be:

• Farmed from mobs in the Storm Peaks, as well as in the Halls of Stone and Halls of Lightning dungeons
• Bought from the auction house — often the fastest method

If you have gold, buying relics from the auction house lets you grind reputation to "Revered" in a single day, without waiting for the daily quest reset.

Step 4: Buying the Mount

Upon reaching "Revered", return to Lillehoff in Dun Niffelem and buy Reins of the Ice Mammoth for 1,000 gold. Use the item — the mount will appear in your collection.
